Alderman Nitschke for the Street Committee, to whom Street H&TC Ry extend tracks was referred an ordinance permitting the H & TC Ry to extend its tracks on 24th Street, presented a report recommending the passage of the ordinance. The report was adopted. Unfinished business Alderman Lay laid before the Council an ordinance permitting the H & TC Ry Co to extend its track on 8th Street. The ordinance was read the second time. Alderman Miller entered the Council Chamber. Alderman Schneider moved to amend the ordinance by adding the following Section 7. That said Railroad Company shall keep said Street in good repair to the satisfaction of the Street Committee and City Engineer. Resolution inviting Alderman Nitschke offered the following President U.S. to resolution, which was read and adopted Visit Austin Whereas reliable information has been received that his Excellency, the President of the United States, the Honorable Theodore Roosevelt contemplates visiting the state of Texas in the latter part of March, or April, 1905, and Whereas, the people of Texas, from the Red River to the Gufp, from the Sabine to the Rio Grande, are most earnestly desirous of the opportunity of receiving the Chief Magistrate of this great Republic in our state, therefore Be it Resolved, by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas, that we, in the names of all of the people of Austin, extend to President Roosevelt and party, a most hearty and sincere invitation to visit the Capital City of Texas, and assure him a most cordial welcome at the hands of our people, and Be it further resolved, that these resolutions be duly spread upon the minutes of the City Council, and that the Mayor, the Honorable R. E. While, and is hereby authorized and directed to cause a copy of the same to be engrossed and forwarded to the Honorable A. S.
