Petitions & Memorials etc. Petition of citizens By Alderman Powell. Petitions of citizens to have to have asphalt repaired work done on west 6th Street. Read on motion referred to the Street Committee. Aldermen Redd & Woehrelm entered the Council Chamber. Petition & Protest By Alderman Petri. Petitions of citizens asking that the For and against Council repeal the Pound ordinance passed April 8th Repeal of Pound 1905. Read and on motion referred to the Police Ordinance Committee. By Alderman Haynes. Petition of citizens, protesting against the repeal of the Pound ordinance passed April 8th 1905. Read and on motion referred to the Police Committee. Reports of City Officers. Reports of City Officers The Mayor laid before the Council the report of the City Treasurer for the Month of March 1905, and those of the Marshal for March & April 8th 1905, which were on motion referred to their appropriate Committees, without reading. Unfinished Business. Unfinished Business The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance $50.00 work 5th Ward appropriating the sum of $50.00 for the purpose of completing work in the 5th Ward, which was read the first time, and on motion was referred to the Street Committee. New Business. New Business Ordinance locating By Alderman Redd. An ordinance locating what Old Prednorburg is known as the "Old Prednorburg road" through the Road. property of W.W. Butler, etc, the ordinance was read the first time, and on motion the rule was suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading by the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Armstrong, Crooker, Duncan, Haynes Machen, Miller, Moore, Petri, Powell, Redd, Shumate Smith, Von Rosenberg and Woehrelm - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 14 Nays None- The ordinance was read the second time

333 Taxes permitting By Aldermen Armstrong and ordinance permitting owners of redemption of real Rede estate heretofore sold for taxes and purchased by the City, to estate sold redeem the same at any time within sixty days, upon certain conditions - The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote Yeas Aldermen Armstrong, Crooker, Burnette, Haynes, Whacken Muller, Moore, Petri, Powell, Redd, Shumate, Smith, Von Rosenberg Wilhelm Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council the following Communication Austin, Texas, April 17, 1905 To the Hon. W. D. Shelley, Mayor Dear Sir: appointments and In conformity with City ordinance: I have Confirmation of appointed Mr. Henry Ziller as Assistant Assessor and Henry & Aug Ziller Collector, and Mr. August Ziller Deputy Assessor and Asst. Assessor and Collector, and would kindly ask to submit their Taxes names to the City Council for Confirmation Yours truly Fred Starging Assessor & Collector On motion the appointments were confirmed. Alderman Smith and Armstrong offered the following preamble and resolution, which was read & adopted Austin, Texas, April 17, 1905 Invitation to State Whereas, The Texas State Federation of Labor is soon to have Federation of Labor its annual meeting in the City of Denison, Texas; And to hold annual Whereas, there are distinguished delegates to the session in Austin State Federation of Labor from the City of Austin, who the citizens of Austin believe will be able to Secure for the City of Austin the next annual meeting of the State Federation of Labor; and Whereas, the citizens and public officials of the City of Austin are desirous of having the State Federation of Labor meet in the City of Austin at its next annual Meeting. Therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, that we issue to the State Federation of Labor and to each and every one of the delegates thereof an invitation to meet in the City of Austin at their next Annual Meeting, and that we extend to them, in case they see fit to meet in the City of Austin, a most cordial welcome, and promise to them a most hearty good time! And Be it further Resolved, that a copy of this resolution be Given to the delegates from the City of Austin to the State Federation of Labor, and that they be requested to file Same with the Secretary of said State Federation of Labor.

By Alderman Macken An Ordinance amending the Park Ordinance, so as to elect the Park Keeper by the Council. By Alderman Crooker an ordinance appropriating the Sum of $10 ⁰⁰ for the purpose of purchasing a Clock for the Council Chamber. Mayo Aldermen Macken Miller Moore Redd & Von Rosenberg The Mayor laid before the Council the following Communication from the City Engineer Austin Tex Apr 17. 1905 To the Hon Mayor W. D. Shelley & Board of Aldermen of the City Council
Gentlemen: I respectfully, request that an appropriation of Nine Hundred Dollars ($900.00) or so much thereof as necessary be made for the purchase of six Mules & harness for same. I also beg leave to suggest that the sum of Sixty dollars ($60.00) be appropriated for the purchasing of drafting instruments & furnishing office of City Engineer Respectfully, B. E. Leonard City Engineer To the Hon Mayor W. D. Shelley & Board of Aldermen of the City Council
Gentlemen: I respectfully, request that the sum of two hundred dollars be appropriated for Street labor ($200.00) B. E. Leonard City Engineer Alderman Powell moved that the Communication be referred to a special Committee of three, which motion prevailed, and the Mayor appointed Alderman Powell Von Rosenberg & Armstrong as such Committee Alderman Shumate moved that a special Committee of three be appointed on plans for a new City Hall, which Motion prevailed and the Mayor appointed as such Committee Alderman Shumate Crooke & Petri The City Clerk stated that he desired instruction from the Council as to amount to be paid to Judges & clerks of the election held April 3rd 1905, On motion of Alderman Moore the amount of Compensation was fixed at $4.00 each The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance appropriating the Sum of $224.00 for the purpose of paying the per diem of Judges & clerks of Election & for rent of booths & furniture used at said election, The Ordinance was read the first Time and passed Under suspension of the rules by the following Vote Yeas. 336 Accourty Street Dept- The ordinanc was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote Yeas Aldermen Armstrong, Crooker, Duncan, Haynes Maecken, Miller, Moore, Petri, Powell, Reed, Shumate Smith, VonRosenberg & Wilhelm Nays none. approved accounts By Alderman Haynes An ordinance appropriating the sum of $1297.47 for the purpose of paying approved accounts was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote Yeas Aldermen Armstrong, Crooker, Duncan, Haynes, Miller, Moore, Petri, Powell, Reed, Shumate, Smith, Von Rosenberg & Wilhelm Nays none 14 $200 extra Str Labor By Alderman Maecken An ordinance appropriating the sum of $200. for the purpose of paying for extra street labor claims The ordinance was read the first time & passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote Yeas Aldermen Armstrong, Crooker, Duncan, Haynes, Maecken Miller, Moore, Petri, Powell, Reed & Shumate, Smith, VonRosenberg & Wilhelm Nays none. 14 Jno B. Johnson The following bond of City Clerk approved Jno B. Johnson as City Clerk, which was approved by the Council The Mayor called the attention of the Council to the Plumbing Ordinance, which took effect April 15th 1905, and that Under the said ordinance it was the duty of the Council to elect two members of the examining board, provided for in said ordinance. Plumbing Board of Alderman Moore nominated J.R. Donnelly as Examiners elected a member as provided for. Alderman Reed nominated Geo. A. Brush Alderman Maecken nominated Geo. E. Martin The Mayor appointed Aldermen Miller & Powell as delegates. J.R. Donnelly The Tellers announced the following as the result of Thos Benson the first ballot. J. Donnelly 7. Brush 5. Martin 3. Mr. J.R. Donnelly having received a majority of all the votes of the Council, The Mayor declared him duly elected as one of the Board of Examiners. Nominations for Journeyman Plumbers as a member of the B. of Ex. Examiners, was asked in order Alderman Moore nominated Thos. Benson. There being no other nomination, Thos. Benson was unanimously nominated, and so declared by the Mayor.

Street Comm & Engineer Alderman Macken moved that the Street Committee to have Steam Roller and City Engineer be authorized to have the Steam Roller repaired repaired. The amount of appropriation made by the Council for that purpose, today, Motion prevailed. The account of Bvt Austin for repairs to Town Hall was on Motion referred to the Fire Committee a/cs. for supplies Accounts against the County of Dravers for expenses in Small Pox patients treating small pox patients, and which had been presented requesting the City to pay one half of said accounts, were on motion referred to the Charity Committee.
