Roll Called Present Aldermen Armstrong, Crookes, Cunea, Haynes, Miller, Moore, Petri, Powell, Redd, Shumate, Smith, Von Rosenberg. + Wilkerson 13 Absent Alderman Waelker 1 The following Call of the Council was read Austin, Texas, May 24th, 1905 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin Call of Council is hereby Called to meet in the Council Chamber at City Hall at 8 o’clock P. M. this 24th day of May A. D. 1905, for the following purposes, Viz: 1st To receive and act upon the report of the Finance Committee as to Amount available in the Permanent Paving fund 2nd To receive and act upon a proposition by the Water and Light Commission as to Arc Lights. 3rd To pass a resolution directing the City Clerk to pay fees for putting in storm sewer lateral at 7th street and Congress Avenue, out of appropriation heretofore made to put in storm sewer lateral at 6th street and Congress Avenue, the putting in of lateral at 6th street having been abandoned. 4th To make an appropriation to pay the salary of the Assistant City Engineer 5th To make an appropriation for putting in a Culvert on Red River St, between 17th & 18th streets 6th To amend the six o’clock ordinance 7th To Consider, and if thought advisable to order an election to fill the Vacancy in the Board of Water & Light Commissioners Caused by the resignation of J. 360 Report of finance the credit of the Permanent Paving Fund, Made a Verbal Committee on Paving report and submitted the following Resolution fund that received by the City Council of the City of Austin; Section 1. That the Finance Committee, are hereby allowed and permitted to draw Warrants on the City Treasurer of the City of Austin for any amount or amounts in excess of the amounts of Money in hand to the credit of the Permanent Paving Fund not to exceed Six Thousand ($6,000.00) dollars, and that when such warrants are so drawn and Countersigned Resolution authorizing by the Mayor and City Clerk of the City of Austin, the same Overdraft on Paving shall be paid by the City Treasurer out of the monies hereafter fund. collected and deposited to the credit of said fund and applied to the payment of said Warrants until the same are paid off and Satisfied Section 2. That, in the event that the City Treasurer advances any sum or sums of Money for the payment of said Warrants on Overdraft, which shall in no case amount as a whole to more than $6000.00 of overdraft, he shall receive and charge up said account, and is hereby allowed to collect and did sums to the extent of 7% per annum. On motion the resolution was adopted Alderman Meacken entered the Council Chamber. The following communication from the Water and Light Commission was read Austin, Texas, May 22, 1905 To the Honorable The City Council, City of Austin, Texas Gentlemen; Water Light Commission On this date the following Motion was demand for money for adopted by the Water Light & Power Commission, Viz! Tower Lights "On motion, duly seconded and Carried, Resolved that, unless the City Council at its next meeting will agree to pay the Commission $1175.00 per annum for lighting the tower lights, and on failure to do so, that in such case the Supt. (Supt.) is hereby instructed to discontinue said lights until such time as our financial condition will enable us to pay the expenses out of our revenue for such purposes. Resolution ordering An election for one Water Light & Power [Comm?]
Water, Light & Power Commission of the City of Austin, Caused by the resignation of F.A. Bachman, as one of Said Commissioners Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin that an election is hereby ordered to elect a Person to fill the Vacancy, in the Austin Water, Light & Power Commission of the City of Austin, Caused by the resignation of F.A. Bachman, as one of Said Commissioners, and, Be it further resolved, that Said election be, and the Same is hereby ordered to take place at the different polling places in the City of Austin on the 28th day of June 1905 By Aldermen Haynes An ordinance appropriating the Sum of $150.00 for the purpose of paying the Salary of An Assistant to the City Engineer for the two months ending June 20th.
