468 Regular Meeting of the City Council Austin Texas, January 15, 1906 Hon. W.C. Shelley, Mayor, presiding. Roll Called. Present: Aldermen Armstrong, Crooker, Ounea, Haynes, Wacker, Miller, Moore, Petri, Powell, Shumate, Smith Von Rosenberg & Wilhelm. Absent: Alderman Redd. On motion the minutes were approved as recorded by the Clerk, without reading. Petitions etc. By Alderman Crooker – Petition of R.H. Hancock, asking to have Certain Pound fees refunded. Read and on motion referred to the Committee on Claims & accounts. School Board to close Alley By the Mayor – Petition of the School Board and Citizens to close a Certain Alley. – Read and on motion the Petition was granted. Kamp & Deats to Number streets By Alderman Ounea – Proposition of Mess Kamp & Deats to put up street signs. – Read and on motion referred to the Street Committee with instructions to report at the next regular Meeting. Reports of Standing Committees Street on petition of Citizens to erect Church in street Alderman Smith for the Street Committee to whom was referred the Petition of Citizens to erect a church building in Lemon Street, presented a report – recommending that the Petition be granted in conformity with which on motion the report was adopted. Street on Matthews Matter. Alderman Smith for the Street Committee to whom was referred the Matter of difference between the City and Mrs. S.A. Matthews regarding Lot in Bldg. of the City, made a verbal report stating that it was the opinion of the Committee that the City owned Content for the ¼ of said lot. On motion of Alderman Crooker the regular order of business was suspended to allow a petition to be presented. Ord Trustees Grant Chapel to remit Taxes Alderman Wilhelm presented a petition from the Trustees of Grant Chapel, A.M.E. Church, asking to have Certain taxes remitted. – Read and on motion referred to the Committee on claims & accounts. Police Com. Marshals report Regular order of business resumed. Alderman Powell for the Police Committee to whom was referred the reports of the Marshal for Dec 1905, presented a petition stating that the same had been examined and found Correct. – The report was adopted. Printing. Contracts etc. Printing Alderman Crooker for the Printing Committee, presented a report stating that they had advertised --- Page break --- 469 for and received bids for job printing for the City for the term ending June 30th 1906, and recommended the acceptance of the bid of the Morgan Printing Co On motion the report was adopted. Reports of Select Committees Reports of select Alderman Wacken for a majority of the Committee to Com on Plumbing whom was referred an ordinance repealing the ordinance Plumbing ordinances, presented a report recommending the passage of said ordinance Alderman Ounes for a minority of said Committee presented a report recommending that said ordinance do not pass Alderman Moore moved that the ordinance be re-referred to the Special Committee, with instructions to bring in a new ordinance on the subject, and that the City Physician and all others interested in the matter be invited to meet with the Committee, which motion prevailed, Unfinished Business Hog ordinance The Alderman laid before the Council an ordinance Amending the Hog Ordinance.
