492 Regular meeting of the City Council Austin, Texas, March 19, 1906 Hon H.A. Whailey, Mayor, presiding Roll Called Present Aldermen Armstrong, Brookover, Haynes Moore, Palm, Powell, Smith, Vors Rosenberg, Weilshohn 9 Absent Aldermen Dumes. Waackes, Weilson, Redd 5 and Shumate On motion the minutes were approved as recorded by the clerk, without reading Petitions [illegible] P. McNamara to By Alderman Wilhelm- Petition P. McNamara to reduce Assessment Correct assessment- Read and on motion referred to the Committee on claims & accounts Wm Southgate to reduce By Alderman Powell- Petition of Mrs. Jennie Southgate Assessment asking a reduction of Assessment- Read and on motion referred to the Committee on claims & accounts W.C. KelleyBy Alderman Moore Petition of W.C. Kelley asking remission to remit taxes of taxes on property claimed it is used for school purposes Read and on Motion referred to the claims & accounts Committee Alderman Redd entered the Council Chamber City Cemetery association Alderman Crooker presented a Communication from for grave the City Cemetery Association asking that places to be taken out of the street near Waterloo Cemetery be delivered to them, to be put in the walks in the Cemetery On motion the Communication was referred to the Street Committee Alderman Wilhelm entered the Council Chamber F. Achilles to Correct By Alderman Redd Petition of F. Achilles asking Assessment to have his Assessment Corrected- Read and on motion referred to the Committee on Claims & accounts Reports of Standing Committees Alderman Vor Rosenberg for the Fire Committee to F.H. Maxwell permit to whom was referred the petition of F.H. Maxwell for erect frame building permission to erect a frame building within the fire in fire limits limits, presented a Report recommending that the petition be granted- On motion the report was adopted Alderman Palm for the Committee on Claims and Henry Kalmon Accounts to whom was referred the petition of Henry Refund fees refunded Kahlman asking to have certain bond fees refunded presented a report recommending that the petition be granted. On motion the report was adopted. Unfinished business Ordinance The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance read to viva repealing the Plumbing ordinance, which was read at Second Time, and on Motion further action was postponed until the next regular meeting of the Council --- Page break --- New Business Extralaborna By Alderman Smith an ordinance appropriating Teams the sum of $300.00 for the purpose of paying for extra street Labor Adams- The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following Vote Yeas Aldermen Armstrong Crooker Haynes Millen Moore Petri Powell Redd Smith Voss Rosenberg & Wilhelm Nays None 4th Annual Installment By Alderman Wacker entered the Council Chamber due old water Co Alderman Haynes An ordinance appropriating the sum of $22.50 for the purpose of paying the 4th Annual installment due the old water Company The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following Vote Yeas Aldermen Armstrong Crooker Haynes Wacker Millen Moore Petri Powell Redd Smith Voss Rosenberg & Wilhelm Nays none Mrs. Riehlman On motion of Alderman Crooker the Marshal was furnished wood directed to furnish Mrs. Riehlman with $2.00 worth of wood on account of Charity Alderman Haynes offered the Council Chamber Alderman Haynes offered the following resolution which was read and adopted Assessor & Collector Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin authorized to employ That the City Assessor & Collector be authorized help to employ extra Clerical assistance for his office during the time of payment of taxes and until such time as he may deem necessary On motion the Council adjourned Fred Johnson City Clerk
