Shelley Mayor presiding, Roll Called Present Aldermen Crocken Haynes Miller Moore Petri Schumate VonRosenburg 8 Absent Alderman Armstrong, Lumus Marcken Red & Smith Swillhelm 6 On motion the minutes were approved as recorded by the Clerk, without reading Petitions, memorials, etc Petitions etc. The Mayor laid before the Council a communication Chief Fire Dept from the Chief of the Fire Dept, asking an appropriation Repairstto Hose of $10.00 for repairing Fire Cart for the use of the West Austin Fire Co. Reel Read and on motion laid over to come up with an ordinance appropriating the money for that purpose Citizens obstructions By Alderman Miller petition of Citizens asking that certain in 3st Congrave obstructions in the street at the foot of Congress avenue be removed – The petition was read Alderman Lumus and Wilhelm entered the Council chamber A motion was made to refer the petition in regard to obstructions in Congress Avenue to the Street Committee, which motion was lost by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Crocken, Redd, Petri, Von Rosenberg Nays Aldermen Lumus Haynes Miller Moore Schumate and Wilhelm Marshal to remove Alderman Moore moved that the petition be received, obstructions in and that the Marshal be directed to notify the parties to Street remove said obstructions within 30 days, which motion prevailed Citizens for bridge Alderman Redd entered the Council Chamber E 22nd St By Alderman Petri – petition of Citizens for a bridge across Waller Creek on E 22nd St. The petition was read and on motion was referred to the Street Committee Reports City Officers Reports of City officers The Mayor laid before the Council the reports of the Assessor and Collector for the first half of April 1906 and those of the Clerk and Marshal for the first half of April 1906, which were on motion referred to the appropriate Committees without reading. He also laid before the Council the report of the City Engineer for the month of April 1906 which was read and on motion referred to the Street Committee. Reports Stg. Com. Reports of Standing Committees Alderman Petri on the Committee on Claims and C. & a – Wm McRoydix Accounts to whom was referred the petition of Wm. McRoydix for a correction of assessment, presented a report recommending that the petition be granted – The report was adopted.

514 Special Com to sell Bonds.
The Committee appointed to sell refunding bonds and to take up and refund the $320.000.00 water light bonds of the City of Austin, Texas, made a verbal report stating what had Alderman Shuman moved that the report of the special action of the Committee, which motion was seconded Alderman Haynes moved that a vote of thanks be tendered the Committee for their services, which motion prevailed unanimously. Alderman Haynes offered the following resolution, which was read and unanimously adopted: Resolution thanks Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, that the sincere thanks of this Council, both as an official body and as representatives of the citizens of Austin, be and they are hereby tendered to Colonel Randolph, Rev. T. Workhouse, Hon. T.P. Hilliard, and to the International Great Northern Railroad Company, and the Missouri, Kansas Texas Railroad Company, for their so kindly extended to the Committee who recently visited St. Louis and New York, for the purpose of negotiating the sale of $320.000.00 worth of refunding bonds of the City of Austin. The above named gentleman and Railroads are assured that their kindness to the City in this matter will be remembered and appreciated. That copies of this resolution be furnished the International, Missouri and Union Iron Levy Price, President and General Manager of the I.G.N. R.R.Co, and to Judge S.D. Miller, General Attorney of the M. K. & T. R.R.Co. Dam Proposition The Special Committee to sell bonds made a verbal report and submitted certain letters read by them in regard to rebuilding the Dam, which was heard and action was referred to the special Dam Committee by the following Vote.
