Petitions, Memorials etc Austin Ice factory By Alderman Smith- Petition of the Austin Ice Co to lay pipe. to lay pipe- Read and on Motion of Alderman Macken was referred to a Special Committee of 3, consisting of Aldermen Macken, Smith & Haynes. Co. to Alderman Smith presented the following petition from pave. the H. & T. C. R. R. Co., which was read and on motion was petition granted Office of Superintendent Austin, Texas, May 12, 1906 Honorable Mayor and City Council of the City of Austin, Texas. City Gentlemen: The Houston & Texas Central Railroad Company Respectfully, asks for authority to construct a Vitrified pavement to platform between Congress Avenue and Brazos Streets, on Third Street. At present we have material and wish to pave South of our Passenger Station to a line twenty and one half feet (20 1/2) South. This width to extend the full length of building and from those Street line of Brazos Street the pavement to be 12 feet wide, parallel with the first track on Third Street and 2 1/4 feet from the Centre line thereof, (see map attached) (From M.P. Reports Standing Coms Alderman Smith for the Street Committee to whom was referred an ordinance appropriating the sum Street Bridge South of $705.00 for the purpose of building a bridge across Austin Bouldin Creek in South Austin, presented a report recommending the passage of said ordinance. On motion the report was adopted.
Streets - Petition to open Alderman Smith for the Street Committee to whom Street across B.&G.N.RR was referred the petition of citizens requesting the W 6th St opening of street across the I&G.N.R.R. track between the Johnson Kraune property, presented a report recommending that the petition be not granted. Alderman Moore moved that the report & petition be re-referred to the Street Committee, which motion was lost by the following Vote Yeas Aldermen Buchea Moore & Wilhelm 3 Nays Aldermen Crooker, Hagnes, Austin, Miller, Petri Powel, Todd, Smith & Von Rosenberg 9 The report of the Committee was then adopted On motion of Alderman Hagnes & Alderman Hinton was invited to a Seat within the Bar of the Council.
Streets. Alderman Smith for the Street Committee to whom was Street RR To Cross referred the Communication from the Austin Electric Colorado Bridge Railway Company, asking permission to Cross the Colorado River on bridge on Congress Avenue, presented a report, stating that the Committee desired further information as to plans for crossing said bridge, before reporting on the petition. The report was adopted. Alderman Smith for the Street Committee, to whom was referred an Ordinance providing for the repair and improvement of and paving of said walks of the City of Austin, presented a report recommending the Passage of the ordinance with certain amendments. On motion the report was adopted.
Police Marshals Alderman Powell for the Police Committee to whom report was referred the report of the City Marshal for the month of April 1916. Presented a report stating that they had been examined and found correct, the report was adopted.
Special - Paving to have on The Mayor laid before the Council the following from Congress Street the Special Paving Committee To the Hon, the Mayor an Council of the City of Austin. We, your Committee on Street Paving, beg leave to recommend to your honorable body, that the work of Paving East Sixth Street from Trinity to Red River Ave.

523 and Congress Avenue from Third Street to the River bridge, to be commenced on July 1, 1906. And we further recommend that the City Engineer Notify all abutting property owners in said territory; the railroads and Street railway, the A.R. Prolin, the Contractor, the Water Light Commission, the Gas Company, and all other persons affected. We now have enough money in the permanent Street fund and in sight, to pay the City’s proportion of the above work, and think it should be carried forward.

Unfinished business Unfinished business Alderman Moore stated to the Council, that some Engineer to open time since the Council passed an ordinance opening Certain street & a Certain Street and Alley in the 7th Ward, and as yet Alley 7th Ward nothing had been done, he moved that the City Engineer be directed to proceed to open said Alley and Street. which motion was lost. The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance 9400- Street work appropriating the sum of $400 for the purpose of improving 2nd Ward Streets in the Second Ward. The ordinance was read the Third time. Franchise was granted By Alderman Von Rosenberg, An ordinance granting to Hofman St. R.R. the Hofman St. R.R. A franchise for Interburban R.R. Read. Alderman Dimes moved to refer the ordinance to the Ordinance Committee, with instructions to report at a Called meeting to be held Wednesday May 28th at 8 o'clock P.M. Alderman Moore moved as a Substitute that it be referred to the Ordinance Committee Street Committee & the City Attorney with instructions to report at the next Stated Meeting. The Substitute was adopted. Bergen Bros. 525 Alderman Haynes offered the following resolution which was read and adapted. Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin; City atty. authorized That the City Attorney be and he is hereby authorized to take judgement to take a judgement in favor of the City, in the case against Mrs. Ellis of the City of Austin vs Amanda R. Ellis Ex, for for taxes whatever sum the proof may show is the value of the property upon which taxes are claimed, and accept the amount due without appealing the case, provided the taxes on received shall be less than $500.ºº Alderman Von Rosenberg offered the following resolution which was read and adopted Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin that the City Engineer to City Engineer be and is hereby instructed to see that property notify parties on owners on Guadalupe St, from 19th to the south limit of the Guadalupe Street State Lunatic Asylum extend their sidewalks of their to extend sidewalks abutting property for a distance of not more than ten feet from their respective property lines Alderman Von Rosenberg offered the following resolution which was read and adopted Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin; Auth.
