Alderman Moore offered the following resolution, which was read and adopted Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the City Engineer and City Plumbing Inspector be and are hereby instructed to have Austin Sewerage Co to make proper connection with City Hall sewer so that there will not be any danger of backing sewerage into City Hall Said City Engineer and Plumbing Inspector be and are hereby further instructed to attend to this matter in the morning before any further work is done. Mayors Veto To the Honorable, The City Council of Austin, Texas . Gentlemen: I return you, without my approval, your ordinance appropriating the sum of one hundred dollars ( $ 100.00 ) for the purpose of closing trade with Stacy-Robbins-Covert Company for part of outlet No 11, Division " Z " City of Austin. My reason for this veto is that a goodly number of the residents in the neighborhood have filed a petition with the City Clerk in which they claim that the use of said lot for the purposes the City intends "would be a detriment to our homes and families ".If such is the case these Citizens should be given an opportunity to be heard before the trade is finally closed. Respectfully F M Maddox, Mayor. Alderman Crooker moved that the vote by which the ordinance was passed be reconsidered, which motion prevailed.
