208 Called meeting of the City Council,Austin,Texas,Jant 28th 1989: Hon F M Maddex,Mayor Presiding: Roll called : Present Aldermen Armstrong,Cunee,Haynes,Meredith,Miller,Moore, Petri,Smith & Wilhelm 9 Absent Aldermen Crooker,Moreland,Redd,Scott & Suter 5 Alderman Cuneo moved a call of the Council,which was seconded and the Marshal directed to bring in the absentees. On motion Aldermen Crooker & Moreland were excused. Alderman Scott,entered the Council chamber and answered to his name. On motion the call was suspended. The following call of the Council was read. Austin,Texas,January 27th 1989 A spec ial meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin,Texas, is hereby called to meet in the Council chamber ,City Hall at 8 oclock P M Thursday January 28th 1989 fot the following purposes,towit: First.To take such action as to the Council may seem best to erect a concrete bridge across Sheal Creek on West Avenue in the City of Austin. Second - To make appropriations to pay salaries of Officers and Employees of the City,including salaries of regular Employees of the stret Dept,for the months of January and February 1989. Third. To make an appropriation to complete the West 6th street Storm Sewer. Fourth - To receive and act upon the report of the Committee upon the Health [illegible] ordinance. Alderman Cuneo for the ordinance Committeepresented an ordinance providing for the making an execution of a contract by and between the City of Austin and the International & Great Northern Railroad Company ,Thomas J Freeman,Receiver,for the building ,erection and completion of a bridge ever and across Shoal Creek within the City of Austin,where said creek is intersected and crossed by West Avenue.and recommending that the ordinance so pass The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension --- Page break --- 209 of the rules by the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Armstrong, Cumeo, Haynes, Meredith, Miller, Moore, Petri, Redd, Scott, Smith & Wilhelm 11 Nays none. Alderman Moore moved that the City Engineer be directed to prepare plans and specifications for said bridge, and after approval by the Street Committee, to advertise for bids for building said bridge, which motion prevailed. Salaries officer + employees. By Alderman Haynes an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 7290.90 for the purpose of paying salaries of Officers and Employees for the months of Jany and Feby 1909. The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Armstrong, Cumeo, Haynes, Meredith, Miller, Moore, Petri, Redd, Scott, Smith & Wilhelm 11 Nays none. Pay Salaries regular Sanitary Employees By Alderman Haynes an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 1900.00 for the purpose of paying salaries of regular Employees of the Sanitary Dept for the months of Jany and Feby 1909. The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Armstrong, Cumeo, Haynes, Meredith, Miller, Moore, Petri, Redd, Scott Smith and Wilhelm 11 Nays none. Salaries regular Street Employees By Alderman Scott an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 770.00 for the purpose of paying salaries of regular Employees Street Dept . The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Armstrong, Cumeo, Haynes, Meredith, Miller, Moore, Petri, Redd, Scott, Smith & Wilhelm 11 Nays none. W 6th Street Storm Sewer. By Alderman Scott an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 457.45 for the purpose completing West 6th street storm Sewer. The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Armstrong, Cumeo, Haynes, Meredith, Miller, Moore, Petri, Redd, Scott, Smith & Wilhelm 11 Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council a communication in regard to Sewerage, which was read and on motion referred to the Board of Health, the Sanitary Committee, the Mayor and City Attorney .
