220 The ordinance was passed under suspension of the rule by the fol-lowing vote : Yeas Aldermen Armstrong, Crooker, Haynes, Meredith, Miller, Moore, Moreland, Patri, Redd, Scott, Smith, Sutor & Wilhelm 13 Nays none . Alderman Wilhelm offered the following resolution, which was read and adopted. Engineer to act on Be it resolved that the Engineer and Street committee be and are + inspect roads etc hereby instructed to inspect the situation of streets and bridges lying between Navasota at & East City limits & East 6th street and 23 street, or better known as Manor road in East Austin, as the above territory of the City of Austin has been neglected for some time, and has been reported to me to be in an impassable condition in places. I further ask that the City Council instruct the above committee to make inspection at once and report the situation back to the City Council at its next regular meeting . Alderman Haynes offered the following resolution which was read and adopted Whereas ,the paving at many of the intersections on Congress Avenue & Sixth street is being injured, the timber bracing the paving having been worn away by traffic, and filling necessary to protect same. Engineer + Therefore be it resolved ,that the City Engineer be and is Paved Street, etc hereby instructed to at once ,inspect each street intersection and have made necessary fills or concrete (tamped )to protect the paving. Alderman Crooker offered the following resolution ,which was read and adopted. OddFellows Grand Lodge Be it resolved by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Austin,that 1910 invite to the said Board ,hereby tenders, a most hearty and cordial invitation Convention on behalf of the City of Austin to the Grand Lodge of the Independwelcome ent Order of Odd fellows to hold their annual session in 1910 in the said City ; assuring them and their great Order, that the Citizenship of Austin, will extend to them a most cordial welcome, and that every reasonable effort will be made to make their visit to our City, a most profitable and enjoyable one, and one that will be memorable in i its annals . Fence Removed street Alderman Meredith offered the following resolution ,which was read Hyde Park street and adopted. petition Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, that whereas the Citizens living on the East side of Hyde Park have repeatedly petitioned this Body to have the fence across 4th Street in Hyde Park removed so that ingress and egress may be had ,now therefore , be it resolved that the same is hereby ordered to be removed and that the City Marshal is ordered to By Alderman Scoot an ordinance appropriating the sum of $2887.00 for Approp bridge Shoal Creek the purpose of paying estimates on bridge across Shoal Creek at West Avenue West Avenue . Street and Speedway,that it is the request of this Bodythat Mr Shipe fill up said excavation. Alderman Redd,Chairman Fire Committee reported to the Council that the wagon of Protection Hose Co 3 and that of the Chief of the Fire Dept were badly in need of repairs and painting,and recommended that an appropriation be made for that purpose. By Alderman Redd an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 175.00 for the purpose of repairing and repainting Protection Hose wagon and the wagon of the Chief of the Fire Dept.The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote : Yeas Aldermen Armstrong,Crooker,Cuneo,Haynes,Meredith,Miller, Moore,Moreland,Petri,Redd,Scott,Smith,Sutor & Wilhelm 14 Nays none .
