Salary Increases Approved: City council increased their own salaries and hired a new assistant foreman for the Street Department at $50/month.

Sunday Butcher Shop Ban Proposed: The Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) petitioned the city to prohibit butcher shops from operating on Sundays.

City Supply Contracts Awarded: Council awarded contracts for hospital and charity services including milk, beef, groceries, and burial services for the remainder of 1909.

School Tax Increase Election Ordered: The council ordered a special election to decide whether to increase property taxes dedicated to schools.

Hospital & Infrastructure Funding: Approved appropriations for city hospital repairs, cemetery maintenance, sanitation work, and a new storm sewer project on Nueces Street.

The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance amendi: section 503 of the revised Statutes of the city of Austin. The ordinance was read the second time and the rule suspended and the ordinance placed on its third reading by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy,Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. The ordinance was read the third time and passed by the following.vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy,Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. T S Thompson put on pay Roll as Asst. Foreman. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the City Clerk is hereby authorized to put T S Thompson on the Monthly pay roll of the Street Department As Assistant Foreman.Salary Fifty dollars ( $ 50.00 )per month ,time commencing June 19th 1909. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy,Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. Communications from Insurance Co's. in regard to taxes on deposits in the State Treasury. Councilman Gracy presented to the Council communications from several Insurance Companies in regard to taxes on deposites in the State Treasury,which were referred to the City Attorney for investi-gation and report. Bids for Supplies for the City Councilman Gracy presented to the Council bids received by him for Supplies,etc,for the City for the term ending December 31st 1909. The following bids were cceptd and contracts awarod,viz : For Stock Feed to Robinson Bros. For Cement to The Austin White Lime Co . For Wood for Hospital ,Charity & Crematory to J C Brodie . For Sweet Milk for Hospital to J W Templer . For Butter & butter Milk for Hospital to H F Hodge. For Beef for Hospital to S A Ston e . For Prescriptions for Paupers to J W Graham & Son. For Hauling pauper remains to City Cemetery to V G Weed. For Hauling Sick to G W Patterson . For Furnishing graves ,burying dead and Hauling remains of Colored paupers to W M Tears. The bids for Groceries,Drugs for Hospital and Meals for Prisoners were referred to Councilman Hart for examination and report . Bids for Lumber & Blacksmithing was referred to Councilman Powell , for examination and report. On motion the Council recessed subject to the call of the Mayor. June 26th 1909. Committee Paving Com. The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members Present, met with Citizens. also the following Gentlemen Members of the consulting Paving ComPaving work. -mittee,viz : Messrs A C Goeth,A J Eilers & Joe Harrell. Mr C E Anderson ,for himself and as the representative of Mrs McCleary, appeared before the Committee and made a statement .
