Tax Assessment Cancellations: Council cancelled unpaid property tax assessments from 1897-1908 for various companies and institutions, including the YWCA at the University of Texas and local churches, clearing them from city records.

399 Regular meeting of the City Council: Austin, Texas November 11, 1909. Hon A P Wooldridge, Mayor Presiding : Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gracy, Hart & Powell 5 Absent none. The minutes of the last regular and adjourned meetings were read and approved . Reports of City Officers: Report of City officers The following reports for the month of October 1909, were read and referred, City Treasurer, & City Attorney ,to Councilman Gracy. Sexton, to Councilman Bartholomew. Matron of the Hospital to Councilman Hart. City Engineer to Councilman Powell Councilman Bartholomew presented a report from the Water & Light Dept ,for the months of April, May & June, which were ordered filed. Unfinished business: approve for The Mayor laid before the Council an-ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 200.00 for cut Green the purpose of paying for extra engineering work, which was read the third time and passed by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gracy, Hart & Powell 5 Nays none . approved apps The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance appropriating the sum of Cemetary $ 250.00 for the purpose of paying approved accounts for City Cemetery. The ordinance was read the third time and passed by the following vote; Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gracy, Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. New business : Extra Engineering By Councilman Powell an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 50.00 for the purpose Work of paying for extra engineering work. The ordinance was read the first time and the rule suspended and theordinance placed on its second reading by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gracy, Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. The ordinance was read the second time and laid over until the next meeting On motion the Council recessed subject to the call of the Mayor. November 15th 1909. approve paving The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present. East 6th By Councilman Powell an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 1257.40 for the street purpose of paving East 6th street. Extra Labor The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 1000.00 for the purpose of paying for extra labor, which was read the third time and passed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gracy, Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. --- Page break --- 400 Cancelled Councilman Gracy offered the following resolution: Resolved that assessments for the year 1907 against the Standard Mutual Ins Co of Houston, Texas, and Union Bank and Trust Co of Dallas Texas, and for the year 1906 against Standard Mutual Fire Co of Houston, Houston,Texas and Globe Mutual Fire Ins Co of Waco,Texas,and for the year 1908 against State Mutual Life Ins Co of Rhome Grand Frank Heierman for Credits,and for the year 1908 against P & W Allison for credits and for the year 1908 against Young Womens Christian Association of the University of Texas on Lot 33 Block 36 Division "D "in the City of Austin,and against Lot 2 Block 6 Sweetmans addition to the City of Austin,owned by South Austin Church for years 1897 to 1904,be and the same are hereby cancelled and the City Assessor and Collector is hereby directed to cancel same on his records and take credit therefor. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge ,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy,Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. On motion the Council adjourned. Fred Johnson City Clerk.
