The Council continued to set as a Board for hearing appeals from the action of the Board of Equalization,each day until Tuesday December 09, 1909,Sundays excepted. On motion the Council adjournedon Tuesday December 7th 1909. Jno. P. Johnson City Clerk.
Austin,Texas December 9th 1909. Regular meeting of the City Council. Hon A P Wooldridge,Mayor presiding: Roll called. Present Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy,Hart & Powell. The minutes of the last regular and recessed meetings were read and approved.
Reports of City Officers : Reports City Officers The Mayor laid before the Council the following reports of City Officers, which were read and referred to their appropriateHeads of Depts,viz: City Treasurerand Clerk ,to Councilman Gracy. City Marshal and Plumbing Inspector to Councilman Hart, City Engineer to Councilman Powell and
that of the City Sexton to Councilman Bartholomew. Pet. Citizen Light Bartholomew to whom was referred the petition of Citizens for an San Gabriel St. Electric Light at or near 31st and San Gabriel streets,presented a statement of probable cost of installing said light,and on motion the matter was indefinitely postponed.
Wm. Plumb for The Mayor laid before the Council a petition from W T Plumb,asking Damages damages for buggy broken up in crossing one of the streets of the City,which was read and on motion referred to the City Attorney for investigation and report. By Councilman Powell an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 80.00 for the Appro. fine salaries of purpose of paying salaries of regular street employees. employees The ordinance was read the first time the rule suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy,Hart & Powell 5 Nays None. Councilman Gracy presented to the Council bids for furnishing Bids for coal water & light Lignite for the Water & Light Plant for the year 1910,as follows,viz: Roskdale Lignite Coal Co at 77cents for the first 6 months ,and 82 Cents for last 6months,free on board Roskdale,Texas,and C B Beard at $1.25 for Austin,Texas. Councilman Bartholomew moved that the bid of C B Beard be accepted, Bid C B Beard accepted which motion prevailed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy ,Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. By Councilman Powell an ordinance approp riating the sum of $50.00 for the purpose of paying for extra Engineering work. Engineering work The ordinance was read the first time and the rule suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy,Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. December 15th 1909. The Council was called to order by the Mayor,with all members present except Councilman Bartholomew. On motion of Councilman Hart,and upon the recommendation of the City Recorder and the Asst City Attorney,the following fines assessed Fines remitted in the Recorders Court were remitted,provided the parties leave the City at once,viz: Chas Schenck,V Stocking .
