410 . Regular meeting of the City Council: Austin, Texas December 23, 1909. The minutes of the last regular and recessed meetings were read and approved. Unfinished business : The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 150.00 for the purpose of paying for paving West 5th st, which was read the third time and passed by the following ve vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gracy Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. Approp paving w 5th st The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 50.00 for the purpose of paying for extra Engineering work, which was read the third time and passed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gracy, Hart & Powell 5 Approp extra Engineering work Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 209.90 for the purpose of paying the Claim of L Littman for damages, which was read the third tine and passed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gracy, Hart & Powell 5 Claim L. Littman damages. Nays none. The Mayor then laid before the Council an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 225.00 for the purpose of paying weekly pay rolls Street Dept, which was read the third time and passed by the following vote : Approp weekly pay rolls Street Dept Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gracy, Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. On motion the Council recessed, subject to call of the Mayor. December 28th 1909. .The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution: Resolved, that before fixing the rate of taxation for the present year, the total of the land values be cut 20%. The resolution was read the first time. Resolution reducing tax Values. Councilman Bartholomew moved to amend same by striking out " 20 % " and inserting in lieu thereof " 25 % ", which motion was lost by the following vote: Yeas Councilman Bartholomew 1 Nays Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Gracy ,Hart & Powell 4.
