449 Regular meeting of the City Council,Austin,Texas ,March 31, 1910. Hon A P Wooldridge,Mayor presiding: Roll called: Present:Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy,Hart '& Powell 5 Absent: none.
The minutes of the last regular and adjourned meetings were read. Petitions,Memorials,etc : The Mayor laid before the Council a petition from Voss & Kocok ,asking permiss-sion to lay a spur track on East 3rd & San Jacinto street,which was read and laid over for further investigation. Councilman Powell presented a petion from Ray McDonald asking prmission to widen the dyke at the south approach to the Colorado bridge,and to erect loading bins and a small office building on the said addition to dyke. The petition was read and laid over to come up with a resolution on the subject. The Mayor laid before the Council a communication from John Andrawathy asking for a franchise and rright of way for an interurban road ,which was read and laid on the table,subject to call . Unfinished business : The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance appropriating the sum of $ 450.00 for the purpose of paying expenses of Erections. The ordinance was read the third time and passed by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy,Hart & Powell 5 Nays none.
New business : The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and inst ructed to open the ballot boxes cotaining the challots cast at the election hHon March 19th 1910,and take out all ballots,poll lists,tally lists and returns and de posi same in a box,and seal said box in the presense of the City Council,and after sealing same attach his certificate to said box,to the effect that said box contains all th e ballots cast at said election. The resolu ion wasadopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy,Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That Ray Mc Donald and his associates,known as the Austin Sand and Gravel Co be granted a permit to widen the dyke or south approach to the C ongress Avenue Colorado River bridge ,commencing on the down stream side at the south bridge head,after completion of said dyke,for an additional of about fifteen feet( 15') in width -and about one hundred feet in length,entirely at their expense,said add addition to new dyke to confrom to grade of same,and also to erect loading bins and small office on said new strip so built by the Company,as petitioners ask. The building and bins to be placed so as not to interfere with the public utility.Said Austin Sand and Gravel Companywill be held responsible for damages of any kind caused by the construction of loading binsremaining in the street after completion,and if said structure at any time should be orderede be moved from the street ,said owner must move them out of the street at his expense and leave the street in a good and passable condition.
