By Councilman Hart ,an ordinance regulating publicvehiclesfor hire, and for the violation of which ordinance a penalty is provided. Vaticle or ordinance The ordinance was read the first time;and the rule suspended and it placed on its second reading by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy & Hart 4 Absent Councilman Powell 1 The ordinance was read the second time and laid over . The Mayor laid before the Council the Budget for the Water & Light Budget of Water & Light Dept. 1910 adopted Departmentfor the year 1910,which was read the third time and passed by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy&Hart 4 Absent Councilman Powell . 1 The following is the resolution adopting the Water & Light Budget: Resolved by the City Council of Austin: Section 1. That the budget of the Mayor of this City for the Water,Light and Power department of the City of Austin,which budget is dated April 25th ,1910,be and the same is hereby accepted,adopted and approved. Section 2. That the appropriations of money in said budget,recommended by the Mayor ,are hereby made for the purposes,and oin the amounts in said budget stated . On motion the Council recessed subject to call of th the Mayor.
May 8th 1910. The Council was called to order by the Mayor,with all members present. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Claim J.H. Welle ordered paid Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the City Clerk is hereby directed to pay out of the Permanent Paving fund ,and charge against said fund,the sum of Ninety fourand 59/100 dollars ( 94.59) ,being balance on hand in judgement City of Austin vs Joseph Hallis-over and above the cost of paving in front of his property on east sixth street. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy,Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. On motion the Council recessed subject to call of the Mayor.
May 11th 1910. The Council was called to order by the Mayor,with all members present. Councilman Hart offered the following resolution: Invitation for State Firemens Ass'n Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: (1) That a most cordial invitation be and is hereby extended to the State Fireman's Association to held its annual convention for the year 1911 in this City . (2) That the Citizens of Austin will esteem it a privilege to entertain the Firemen of Texas whenever they may see fit to accept our hospitality The resolution was adopted by the following vote :

The Mayor laid before the Council the following petition: Austin,Texas,May 9,1910. City Council of Austin. Pet N A Herzog put Would you please grant me a permit to bury a Bowser oil tank in oil tank for kerosene oilunder sidewalk at my place of business located on corner of East 1st and Navasota streets " 1311 ,First street south side Block" 33 ,capacity 120 gals H A Herzog.
The petition was refused in so far as placing the tank under pavement,but granted if placed inside of premises,by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilman Gracy,Hart & Powell 4 Absent not voting Councilman Bartholomew 1 Fine R. K. Patterson Councilman Hart moved that a $10.00 fine assessed in the Recorders Court against one remitted. Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution : approve contract Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : land for reservoir site Section 1. That the sum of two hundred and forty dollars ($240.00)ishereby appro-priated out of the Earnings fund of the Water,Light and Power Department,to be paid to the McCullough Live Stock Company for a tract of ten (10) acres of land belonging to that company,situated on the Colorado river ,and sold to this City,through M M Shipe,as a site for reservoir Section 2. That the City Engineer be and his hereby instructedto give the proper location and lines of said reservoir site and the City Attorney to advise the City Council as to the title to said land.
