Burial Ordinance Passed - The city council approved new regulations governing where people could be buried within Austin's city limits.

University Cannon Celebration Approved - University of Texas students received permission to fire a cannon on campus for about an hour on the evening of May 17th, 1910, likely for a university celebration or event.

169 Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin,Texas,May 12, 1910. Hon A P Wooldridge,Mayor presiding: All called: Present Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Gracy,Hart & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Barthelemew 1 The minutes of the last regular and recessed meetings were read and approved. Reports of City Officers: The following reports of City Officers for the month of April 1910,were received, Reports City officers read and ordered filed,viz: Plumbing Inspector,Marshal,Sexton,Health Officer & AssistantMatron of the Hospital Unfinished business: The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance regulating place of burial Burial ordinance within the corporate limits of the City of Austin,which was read the third time passed and passed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Council men Gracy,Hart & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Barthelemew 1 On motion the Council recessed. May 15th 1910. The Council was called to order by the Mayor,with all members present,except Councilman Barthelemew. University Students On motion the University Students were granted permission to fire a cannonen granted permission on the University campus ,/about an hour ,on Monday night May 17th 1910,by the to fire Cannon following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Gracy,Hart & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Barthelemew 1 TheMayor laid before the Council the followig ordinanceviz: Ordinance regulating An ordinance regulating traffic on and across the Avenue bridge over the Colorado traffic over river at the foot of Congress Avenue,etc. Colorado Bridge The ordinance was read the first time and the rule suspended and it placed on its second reading by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Gracy,Hart & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Barthelemew 1 The Council then recessed,subject to call of the Mayor.
