505 Regular Meeting of the City Council Austin, Texas, July 14, 1910 The Council was Called to order by Mayor I. D. Wooldridge. Councilmen Bartholomew, Tracy, Hart and Cowell. Absent: None - The minutes of the last regular Meeting were read & approved. Reports of City Officers. Reports of City officers The following reports for the month of June 1910, were read and ordered filed, viz: The Plumbing Inspector, the City Health Officer and his Assistant, the Sanitary Inspector, the Dog Catcher, the Matron of the City Hospital, the Alderman Collector & the report of the Water & Light Plant. Unfinished Business! Street Grades 14th The Mayor Said before the Council, a resolution establishing between Colorado & and fixing grades 14th Street between Colorado and Colorado Laraca The resolution was read the Third Time and passed by the following Vote: Yeas: Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Tracy, Hart and Powell. Nays: None. RR Tracks I. D. Gregory The Mayor Said before the Council an ordinan - To grant to et al. I. D. Gregory et al. the right to construct, maintain and operate a railroad track across certain Streets in the City of Austin. The ordinance was read the Third time and laid over. W. E. Riddle, Weighon The Mayor Said before the Council a resolution authorizing & Scale and granting W. E. Riddle the right to erect and maintain a Fairbanks Standard Scale, at a point Near the Corner of 5th Street and East Avenue. June 1st, 1910 - 3. P.M. The Council was called to order by the City Mgr Mayor W. W. Davis. Councilman Bartholomew, Mayor T.W. Davis, Councilman Austin and Councilman Bartholomew were present at 21 votes on account of their receiving Charity Tickets, which Motion was made by the following Vote: Yeas: Mayor W. W. Davis, Councilman Bartholomew, Gracy, Hart & Powell Nays: None. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin; Mrs L. Banes given temporary Grade on East Side San Jacinto Street. That the privilege is hereby granted to Mrs L. Banes a temporary Grade on the East side of San Jacinto Street from 11th Street, South to the Alley. Councilman Gracy moved to Amend the resolution by adding, "Provided however, that their fence South on San Jacinto Street be moved back to the true line of said street." July 15th 1910 The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present. Mayor directed to make deed to Cemetery Lot to W H Bowden Mayor Wooldridge presented the following resolution: Whereas, on the 12th day of May 1991, H.H. Bowden died in the service of this City, and whereas, said W.H. Bowden was a faithful and efficient laborer, and whereas, it is meet and proper to pay respect by some practical service when such service can be rendered to a deceased person who has died in the employ of the City, and whose family are unable to defray the proper expenses of his burial, therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the North West Quarter of Cemetery Lot No 1093 in Oakwood Cemetery be donated to WH Bowden and to such members of his family as have survived towit: his wife, his step daughter and his Mother. Mayor Frosdredge offered the following resolution & Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin; Street lines That the Street lines be established on East Fifth Street from Congress Avenue to East Avenue. Congress avenue & on Congress Avenue from Sixth Street South about To East avenue 5th an excess of 3'. the block. thus making the Center line of 5th Street at Congress Avenue 355.3' from the iron pin at the Center of Congress Avenue and 6th Street and On East Avenue, allow an excess of .8' the block going North from 5th Street to 6th Street, thus making the South line of 5th Street 3.2' North of the point where it should be shown by a right-angled line located the Correct distance from the Center of Congress Avenue and 5th Street.
