Fire Safety Expansion: Council approved installing 4 fire hydrants (instead of 3) on a new water pipe being laid in Hyde Park between 3rd and 7th Streets to improve emergency response capacity in the growing neighborhood.

Street Standards: East First Street from East Avenue to the city limits was officially designated as a uniform 60-foot-wide street, establishing consistent infrastructure standards for the eastern part of the city.

Building Modification Approved: Property owner A.T. Yarrington received permission to relocate exterior stairs on his building at 325 East Sixth Street, with conditions that he maintain the sidewalk and remove the stairs at the city's request.

Routine Expense: Council authorized payment of a $49.17 bill to General Electric Company for park and public property maintenance dating back to January.

525 August 03, 1910 The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present, except Councilman Hart. Councilman Bartholomew offered the following Resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: Supt. Parks and authorized pay and That the Superintendent of Parks and Public Property is bill General hereby authorized and instructed to pay a bill to the General Electric Co Electric Company, in the amount of Forty Nine x 17/100. dollars ($49.17) dated January 28th 1910. The resolution was adopted by the following Vote: Yeas: Mayor Woodardge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gracy and Powell Nays: None. Mayor Woodridge laid before the Council the following Resolution: Regulating It is resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: Lines 1st East That the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas, hereby Ave to City limits recognizes East First Street, from East Avenue to the City Limits, on the East, to be a street of the uniform width of Sixty feet (60') The resolution was adopted by the following Vote: Yeas: Mayor Woodridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gracy & Powell Nays: None. Councilman Bartholomew moved that 4 fire hydrants Fire Hydrants instead of 3. be placed on 6' pipe now being laid between Hyde Park 3rd and 7th Streets in Hyde Park. The motion was adopted by the following Vote: Yeas: Mayor Woodridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gracy and Powell. Nays: None. Councilman Powell to whom was referred the petition of Art Yarrington A. T. Yarrington for permission to change steps stairway Steps to Building leading to the 2nd floor of his building presented the following report: Austin, Texas, Aug 8th 1910 To the Hon Mayor and City Council, City of Austin, Texas. Gentlemen: In reference to the petition of Mr. A.T. Yarrington asking the privilege to change his steps on the outside of his building at No 325 East Sixth Street. I recommend that he be granted a permit to change his steps on the side of his building on Trinity Street as he requests, provided that the steps do not take up any more of the sidewalk than they now do, and that he be held responsible for damages of any kind caused by the construction on the steps remaining on the sidewalk after completion, and if said steps at any time should be ordered to be moved --- Page break --- 526 From the sidewalk, said owner move off or out sidewalk at his expense and repair the sidewalk in a good and useable Condition Presenting - R L Powell Sixth Street Councilman Powell offered the following Resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas That permission is hereby granted unto Barrington Toner and Waxham to a wooden staircase from the sidewalk in front of his premises situated at 325 East Sixth Street, being part of Lot No. 7 of the City of Austin, Texas, said being intended to be a staircase facing Southwardly, in front of the premises which faces Southwardly at the present time on said premises Said permit is granted to said Barrington to construct and maintain said staircase Conditional upon he hold the City harmless against any damage which may result from the construction of the same, and upon that he shall remove said staircase, at his own expense, at any time when so directed by the City Council Permission to erect and maintain said staircase, as above described, is granted upon Condition that the staircase at the present time adjacent to said premises and facing Southwardly, shall be removed as soon as the staircase herein above Authorized, shall be constructed.
