Water Infrastructure: Council approved installation of a 6-inch water main in Hyde Park with two hydrants to extend service northward from Park to Hofer's residence area

Gas Service Expansion: The Austin Gas Light Company received permission to lay gas pipes across Congress Avenue at Fifth Street to expand service to the city

Sidewalk and Curbing: East Sixth Street (from Sabine to East Avenue) was ordered to have new sidewalks and curbing installed on its north side

Tax Relief Granted: A property owner received a $1,200 credit against an assessment and had interest and penalty charges waived after administrative error delayed their payment

Street Alignment: Council approved precise survey measurements for new street centerlines on West 18th Street and East Ninth Street near Congress Avenue

531 Regular meeting of the City Council August 11, 1910. The Council was called to order by the Mayor,with all members present except Councilman Hart. The minutes were read and adopted. Amendment of Art 79b The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance to amend Article 79,Title XXXIV Revised Ordinance of the Revised ordinances of the City of Austin,passed and approved April 19th 1909. The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy and Powell 4 Absent Councilman Hart 1 On motion the Council laid before the Council the following reports of Officers for the month of July 1910,which were read and ordered filed: Reports of Officers The City Marshal,The City Clerk,The Clerk of the Corporation Court,The Treasurer, The Plumbing Inspector,The Sanitary Inspector,and the Supt of the water and Light Plant. On motion of Mayor Wooldridge,Councilman Gracy was granted a leave of absence for 30 days from August 12th 1910. 6 inch main Hyde On motion Councilman Bartholomew was instructed to extend _sixinch main North from Park north east corner of block 21 Hyde Parkto a point opposite Mr Hofers residence,with two hydrants,on Avenue & Hyde Park Annex; The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Hart 1 On motion the Council adjourned,subject to call od the Mayor. August 13th 1910. The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Present Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew & Powell 3 Absent excused Councilmen Gracy & Hart 2 Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: J. A. Richardson 30 That leave of absence for thirty ( 30 ) days from August 15th 1910,is hereby Days leave granted granted by the City Council to J A Richardson,Assistant City Attorney. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew & Powell 3 Absent excused Councilmen Gracy & Hart 2 . Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the Austin Gas Light Company is hereby granted permission to lay pipe Gas Co Permission across Congress Avenue at the intersection of fifth street.Provided said work Lay pipe 5th shall be done under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Street Streets and Public Improvements. Rawlins Assessment Corrected .Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution: Whereas Robert W Walling made application to the City Council through Councilman D B Gracy ,for credit of twelve hundred dollars($1,200 ) against the three thousand dollars ($3,000)of vendors lien notes assessed against him as of January 1st 1909;and Whereas said application was lost or mislaid by Councilman Gracy ;and, Whereas satisfactory proofs have been submitted to us by said : R W Walling was entitled to the credit of twelve hundred dollars($1,200 ) as claimed;and, Whereas said R W Walling desires to pay the taxes legally owing upon the vendors lien notes actually owned by him on January 1st 1909,and has tendered payment of the same witout the interest and penalties charged against him by reason of a flure to pay said taxes more promptly, which failure was caused by no fault of him;therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the interest amounting to $1.50 and the penalty of 5%,amounting to $1.50,by reason of said dereliction,be,for the causes hereibabove stated, remitted. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew & Powell 3 Absent excused Councilmen Gracy & Hart 2 On motion the Council recessed,subject to call of the Mayor. Monday ,August 15th 1910. The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Present Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew & Powell 3 Absent excused Councilmen Gracy & Hart 2 Curbing-Side walks & 6th Sabine to East Avenue ordered put in Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: Thatis hereby ordered and directed by the City Council,that the sidewalks and curbing,on the north side of East Sixth street from Sabine street to East Avenue. That the Superintendent of Streets and blic Improvements is here instructed to carry out the direction of this resolution in accordance with the provisions of the ordinance. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew & Powell 3 Nays none. The Council then recessed subject to call od the Mayor. --- Page break --- 533 August 16th 1910. • Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : • Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the center line of west 18thstreetfrom Congress Avenue to west Avenue be as follows: Beginningat a point in the center line of Congress Avenue,as now located from First to Nineteenth streetsix and two tenthfeet north of the recorded distance from the iron pin now located at the intersection of the center lines of Congress Avenue and Sixth street,thence westward in a straight line to a point on the east line of west Avenue12-5/10 northward from the point where a line from said point of beginning at right angles to said center line of Congress Avenue would intersect the said east line of West Avenue. Attached hereto communication from Engineer M C Welborn and recommended by City Engineer G S Iredell. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilman Bartholomew & Powell 3 Absent Councilmen Gracy & Hart • 2 Street lines Cong ave + west 18th street Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the center line on east ninth street be as follows: Beginning at a point on the east line of Congress Avenue,10.25 feet northward along the center line of Congress Avenue,and 60feet eastward perpendicular to said line from an iron pin in the center ofCongress Avenue and sixth street,thence eastward to a point on thewest line of East Avenue,six feet northward from the point where a line from the point of beginning on the east line of Congress Avenue and perpendicular to the center line og Congress Avenue intersects the center line ofEast Avenue. Attached hereto recommendation by Engineer M C Welborn and approved by City Engineer,G S Iredell. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas MayorWooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew & Powell 3 Absent Councilmen Gracy & Hart . On motion the Council adjourned.
