Street improvements underway: City council authorized bids for sidewalks and curbing on 22½ Street between Rio Grande and San Gabriel streets, requiring property owners to contribute to the project.

Police personnel change: S.A. Moore was hired as a policeman to replace Guy Maddox, who resigned from the force.

624 .Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Whereas on the 19th day of April ,1910,a resolution passed the City Council,requesting all property owners on 22½ street from San Gabriel to Rio Grande streets ,on both sides of the street to put down curbing and paving in front of property holders owning property upon said 22½ street. Whereas said property holders were notified to meet with the City Council on or about April 25th ,to offer any objection that they May have,if any, When some of said property owners have put down curbings and sidewalks.Now Therefore, for bids to advertise for sidewalks & curbing Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the Superintendent of Streets and Public Improvements be and is hereby instructed to advertise for bids to put down sidewalks and curbing on both sides of 22½ street from Rio Grande to San Gabriel streets, where curbing and sidewalks are not now down . The resolution was passed by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Gracy,Hart & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Bartholomew 1 The Council then recessed subject to call of the Mayor. December 23rd 1910AM . The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Bids for authorized culvert steel on 5th & Nueces Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the Superintendent of Parks and Public Property is hereby authorized to purchase 20,335 lbs of Steel for Street Dept ,to be used in culvert at Fifth and Nueces streets ,the same to be charged to Street Department. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy ,Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Adjourned - pro-tem Councilman Bartholomew East Avenue Committee Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That ,upon the nomination of Councilman E C Bartholomew,Superintendent of Parks and Public Property ,K C Miller,J E Nitszke,Lawrence Olson, Frank Doughty and William Wellmer ,all of Austin,Texas,be and they are here confirmed as Advisory and co-operative Committee to the City Council in the matter of the improvement of East Avenue as a public park and stre The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Gracy,Hart & Powell 4 Not voting Councilman Bartholomew 1 The Council then recessed subject to call of the Mayor. --- Page break --- (625) December 24th 1910. Councilman Bartholomew presented a petition from B W Randolph asking damages on account of team running away and breaking wagon and harness by being fright-ened from blasting by Water & Light force,which was read and referred to the City Attorney for investigation and report.
