682 Regular meeting of the City Council: Austin, Texas, April 06, 1911 Hon A P Wooldridge, Mayor presiding; Roll called: Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gracy, Hart & Powell 5 Absent none. The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and approved. Petitions, Memorials, etc: The Mayor laid before the Council letters from Mr C N Alexander, in regard C.N. Alexander prolonged returned to Com. to propositions to rebuild the Dam, which were read. Reports of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council reports from the City Health Officer & his Assistant & from the Matron of the City Hospital for the months of February & March 1911, also those of the Food Inspector, the Assessor & Collector, the Treasurer & the City Clerk for the month of March 1911, which were read and ordered filed. The Mayor laid before the Council the following report from the City Clerk Austin, Texas, April 4th 1911. To the Hon Mayor and City Council of the City of Austin, Texas. Gentlemen: As required by the City Charter, I have the honor to report the following as the result of an election held in this City on Monday Recd. City Clerk election returns. April 3rd A D 1911, as shown by returns made to me by the Officers of election, viz: For Mayor W L McElroy received 1321 votes, A P Wooldridge received 2315 votes, For Councilmen , E C Bartholomew received 3182 votes, F M Covert received 1338 votes, Jas P Hart received 2179 votes, H L Haynes received 1113 votes, I P Loekridge received 1697 votes, C B Moreland received 1554 votes, P W Powell received 2079 votes, Total number of votes cast at said election 3671. Respectfully submitted , Cont & Election Comm. returns Jno O Johnson ,City Clerk On motion a Committee consisting of Councilmen Jno Gracy Bartholomew, Hart were appoin-ted to canvass the returns and report to the Council. New business : The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: .Whereas, John Greathouse, employed by the City Council of the City of Austin to superintend the construction of the Tenth Ward Fire Hall situated in the seventh ward of the City of Austin, Texas has reported in writing to the City Council , that said building has been constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications provided therefor: and Whereas A P Wooldridge, Mayor, and Jas P Hart, Commissioner of Police and Public Safety, have reported to the City Council that they, in company --- Page break --- 683 • with the principal Officers of the tenth Ward Fire Company ,did, on the 4th day of April,1911,carefully in spect said building and found it ,to the best of their judgement,well and carefully built, therefore, 10th Ward Firehall accepted Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That upon the reports aforesaid,the City Council here accepts said building and approves the same,as built in compliance with the plans and specifications there-for provided. The resolution was adopted by the following vote :m Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy,Hart & Powell 5 Nays none. The following is the report of the Superintendent ,J A Greathouse: Austin,Texas,April 5th 1911. Hon A P Wooldridge,Mayor ,and the Commissioners of Austin,Texas. Gentlemen : I herewith beg leave to report that Messra Fischer and Lambiehave completed the contract for the tenth ward Fire Hall as per plans and specifica-tions,and as per contract,and recommend the acceptance of the same . Respectfully, J A Greathouse,Superintendent. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the following grades be and the same are hereby established for the center Grades & 12th Street approved of east twelfth street from Brazos to Neches streets.The bench mark is the top of the fire plug at the southeast corner of twelfth and Neches streets ; assumed elevation 100: Center of Brazos street 153.5 Unchanged East Side of Brazos street 152.7 Cut .6' 46 feet East of Brazos street 151.5 " 8' 92 feet east of Brazos street 149.7 " 4' Center of San Jacinto street 146.4 unchanged 46 feet east of San Jacinto street 142.0 Fill .4' East side of Trinity street 127.7 Cut 1.5' ( Cut west side of Trinity street.3' and at center of Trinity Street 1.7' ) 35 feet East of Trinity street 125.0 Cut 1.5' 69 feet east of Trinity street 122.3 " 1.7' West side of Neches street 102.3 unchanged Grade between last two points,9.6 % The resolution was aopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Councilmen Bartholomew,Gracy,Hart & Powell 5 Nays none.
