8 .Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin,Texas, August 24, 1911. The Council was called to order by theMayor:Rollcalled: Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew. Leckridge & Powell 4 Absent excused Councilman Hart 1 The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and adopted.
Councilman Powell presented a petition from Citizens of South Austin, Petition Citizens to amend pound ordinance asking that the Pound ordinance be amended, which was read and laid over until the the return of Councilman Hart.
The Mayor laid before the Council a petition from G F Hamilton,asking remission G F Hamilton pound fee of a pound feesassessed against him,which was endorsed by the City Marshall , recommending that the petition be NOT allowed.The recommendation of the Marshal was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Leckridge & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Hart 1
The Mayro laid before the Council a petition from J O Polhemus asking that a pound J O Polhemus pound fee fee paid by him be refunded,with the recommendation of the City Marshal that the petition be NOT granted. The recommendation of the Marshall wasadopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Leckridge & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Hart 1
The Mayro laid before the Council a petition from J P Schneider asking the Council J P Schneider pound fees to remit pound fees on two horses impounded ,Aug 23rd 1911, On motion the petition was granted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Leckridge & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Hart 1.
The Mayor laid before the Council a petition from Frank Heierman,asking to be Petition F Heierman released released from a judgement against him for taxes,which he claimed were illegally assessed . The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the petition of Frank Heierman ,asking for the remission of the taxes erro-neously assessed against him in the year 1897, by reason of the alleged owner- -ship of a twelve hundred dollar note given by S baillett to him the said Frank Heierman without consideration, as set out in his petition to the City Council, under date of August 24th 1911, be and the same is hereby granted; and, Be it further resolved :
Taxes remitted That the erroneous Judgeman taken against the said Frank Heierman in tax suit No 4468,of the City of Austin vs Frank Heierman ,in Justice M M Johnson's Court Precinct No 3, Travis County ,Texas, on January 28th 1901,be and the same is hereby cancelled and annulled; and, Be it further resolved : That the Mayor of the City of Austin be and he is hereby authorized ,upon the payment of the cost accrued in this cause ,to execute a release of said erro-ous judgement. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew ,Leckridge & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Hart 1

R B Matthews pay Keeper Market square On motion of Councilman Bartholomew, the claim of R B Matthews, for services as Keeper of t the Market square, during the absence of D J O'Kane, amounting to $ 16.55, was allowed and ordered paid by the following vote L: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Lookridge & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Hart 1
Bids for Curb & ave Pk rejected On motion of Mayor Wooldridge, all bids received by the City for Curbing and Gutters on Eas Avenue Park were rejected and the Clerk directed to return to bidders their certified checks by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Lookridge & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Hart 1 Councilman Lookridge presented bids received for furnishing wood to the Hospital and for Charity, as follows, to-wit.
Bids for Wood Hospital, Charity Austin Coal & Wood Co , Hard Wood $ 4.00 per cord, Cedar Wood $ 5.75 per cord , J C Mckee ,Hard wood $ 4.35 per cord ,Cedar Wood $ 5. . per cord J C Brodie Hard wood $ 4.25 per cord, Cedar Wood $ 4.25 per cord .
Contract awarded Jno C Brodie On motion of Councilman Lookridge the contract was awarded to Mr J C Brodie at his bid, by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Lookridge & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Hart 1 The Council then recessed until 3 P M this day .
Thursday Aug 24th 1911 P M . The Council was called to order by the Mayor, with Councilmen Hart & Lookridge absent. Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin:
City Atty instructed suit against J L Hume Lumber Co for paving That the City Attorney of this City be and he is hereby instructed to institute the necessary legal proceedings to enforce a lien and determine the assessed values for street paving in front of the planing mill of J L Hume at the Hume Lumber Co ,abutting upon block 180, fronting Congress Avenue. Atty fee not allowed .The Mayor laid before the Council an account of N A Rector ,Esq, for Attorney's fees Attorney for the City ,in an application for injunction against F H Jones, which was allowed and ordered paid by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Lookridge & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Hart 1 The Council then adjourned.
