The plan approved standard 4.5-foot cement sidewalks for Guadalupe Street, allowing businesses to build wider ones if desired.

27 Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin, Texas, Sept 21st 1911. The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Hart Lookridge & Powell 4 Absent excused Councilman Bartholomew 1 The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and adopted. The Mayor laid before the City Council the reports of the Supt of the Water & Light Plant and that of the City Clerk for the month of August 1911, which were read and ordered filed. The regular order of business was suspended temporarily , and a Committee from the Knights of Columbusappeared before the Council and asked that the Council take part in the Celebration that they proposed to have in the Month of October 1911. After hearing the Committee the Council resumed the regular order of business. Councilman Powell presented a communication from the City Engineer ,making certain recommendations as to sidewalks and curb lines on Guadalupe street which was read. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the curb line on the West side of Guadalupe street from 19th to 24th streets, be placed twenty five (25) feet from the correct property line: also, That the tree line be maintained at its present location, viz, about nine (9) feet from the property line ; also, Th at the cement sidewalk be four and one -half ( 4½ ) feet in width ,and placed in the usual location between the tree line and the property line; and, That, if owners of business property desire to make their sidewalks wider than four and one half feet ,they be allowed to doso. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Hart, Lookridge & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Bartholomew 1 The Councilthen adjourned.
