West Avenue Sidewalks & Church Corner Redo
- Property owners on West Avenue (between 6th and 10th streets) are now mandated to install cement sidewalks.
- The First Baptist Church received temporary permission to build a retaining wall and sidewalk steps at 10th and Colorado streets, with the understanding that the city can revise or cancel this at any time.
- The U.S. Government requested permission to install a new sewer line for the Post Office building, which was referred to the City Attorney for an ordinance.

34 .Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin,Texas, October 12, 1911.
The Council was called to order by the Mayor : Rollcalled : Present Mayor Wooldridge , Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Lockridge & Powell 5 Absent Councilmen Bartholomew & Hart. 2 The Council then recessed subject to call of the Mayor.
Friday Oct 13th 1911.
The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present . The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and approved .
Petitions,etc:
By Councilman Bartholomew petition of Citizens asking the Council to require property owners on West Avenue between tenth and sixth streets to construct cement sidewalks in front of their property . On motion of Mayor Wooldridge the petition was granted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Lockridge & Powell 5 Nays none.
Reports of City Officers:
Pet Citizens to Sidewalk on West Ave between 6th & 10th
The Mayor laid before the Council the reports of the Assessor and Collector, the Treasurer, the Sexton, the City Health Officer and Assistant, the Matron of the Hospital and the Marshal for the month of Sept 1911, which were read and ordered filed . The Council then recessed subject to call of the Mayor.

The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : (1) That the petition of the First Baptist Church for a temporary curbing or retaining wall two feet, ten inches in heighth above the gutter grade along the south line of the property of said church at the intersection of tenth and Colorado streets in this City ,be and the same is hereby granted. (2) That permission is granted to said First Baptist Church to place steps in the sidewalk from the street grade to the present sidewalk grade ofthe sidewalk adjoining said church,on tenth and Colorado streets. (3) That the work herein authorized to be done must be done only under the supervision and subject to the approval of the Supt of Streets and Public Improve- -ments . (4) That the permit here granted is distinctly and definitely declared to be be only temporary and subject to revision or total cancellation at any time in the judgement of the City Council ,and without cost or damage therefor to the the City of Austin. (5) That, should the First Baptist Church at any time elect to put in a curbing on Colorado street ,it shall be put in on the proper grade of that street for a permanent curbing. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart, Lockridge & Powell 5 Nays none.

U.S. Government for permission to put in Sewer
Report M. C. Welborn Filtering Trench 35 Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution : A resolution refunding to William and Ena Vinie Jones excess taxes of $ 2.50 paid by by them for the year 1911. Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the sum of three & 95 dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the general contingent fund of this City ,as a refund to William and Vinie Jones for excess taxes paid by them to that amount , growing out of and erroneous assessment of an old wagon owned by them at $ 250.00 ,when it should have been assessed at $ 2.50. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Lookridge & Powell 5 Nays none. Councilman Lookridge offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That an appropriation out of the general contingent fund for the present year, be and is hereby made of twenty four & 70/100 ( $ 24.70 ) dollars ,to reimburse the estate of John T Gast ,deceased ,for the unused portion of the City Malt Liquor license , from September 23rd ,1911, to July 11th,1912. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Lookridge & Powell. 5 Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council a communication from Mr Webster Flanagan Custodian of the U S Government building asking permission to put in Sewer for the New Post Office building, which was read and referred to the City Attorney with instructions to prepare and submit an ordinance covering the request . The Mayor laid before the Council the report of the Health Inspector for the month of Sept 1911, which was read and ordered filed . Councilman Bartholomew presented a report from M C Welborn ,Engineer in charge of putting in Filtering Trench for the Water & Light Plant, which was ordered filed. The Council then adjourned. Jno G.
