141 Whereas, it appears to be just and certainly legal to assess other credits, where demanded, at the same percentage of valuation; therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the Assessor and Collector of the City of Austin be and he is hereby authorized to correct the assessment heretofore made by him against the Security Life Insurance Company Security Life Insurance Tax of America, of Richmond Va., but with headquarters at Chicago, ILL, which company has requested a re-assessment of its securities, and value the same at [crossed out: seventy] Eighty percentum ( [crossed out: 70%] 80%) of the nominal value of $ 26.269. of securities deposited by said Security Life Insurance Company of America with the State Treasurer of the State of Texas as a condition president to its doing business in this State, and to collect of said Security Life Insurance Company of America municipal taxes upon the basis of said re-valuation of its securities on deposit with the State Treasurer of this City. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the statement which here follows be recorded in the minutes of the City Council of this City;
Statement. The undersigned Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Austin, Texas, make declaration that on the 24th day of February 1912, they, in the presence of one another, destroyed , by burning in the furnace at the City Hall in this City, the five City of Austin Refunding bondsNos 1706,1707,1708,1709 & 1 1710,each being for $ 1,000.00,each being dated the 1st day of July 1901,and due the first day of July 1931.To each of these bonds was attached coupons up to the maturity of the bonds, together with the coupons due July 1st 1912. This amount represents balance due in full payment of said apparatus after deducting freight charges due M K & T Ry Co of $ 147.00. P. Taylor Building permit P. G. Roach authorized to refunding

Whereas , the said Roach desires to repair and restore said awnings as they were prior to said violent windstorm on the 21st inst; therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : "That permission be and is hereby granted said Roach to have repaired and E.C. Bartholomew to repair Awning restored in accordance with the general provisions of the City ordinances, the awning in front of his premises at 511 and 513 East 5th street; and, That the said work under this resolution is to be done under and subject to h the approval of the City Engineer. This includes also the property of E C Bartholomew on the West. Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution: Resolved that the rates for ornamental and sign electric lights on the streets of Austin paid by patrons of the City from and after readings of the month of March 1912 shall be one-half the rate charged for inside lights. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart & Haynes 4 Absent Councilman Powell 1
The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That permission be and is hereby granted Bacon & Hancock, Contractors, to construct and suspend for the present occupants at 809 Congress Avenue, an electric sign, of the fol-lowing description: (1) Length of sign 36 inches. (2) Height of sign 16 inches. (3) Weight about twenty five pounds. Said sign is to project about 36 inches from the sidewalk to which it is attached and must be suspended not less than nine feet above the sidewalk and must be firmly anchored by strong wires or chains to the building in front of which it is suspended. The work to be done under this authorization must be done under the supervision of and subject to the approval of the City Engineer of the City of Austin. The permit hereby granted is temporary and subject to revocation at the pleasure of the City Council. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes 3 Absent Councilmen Hart & Powell 2.
