O.G. Hill taxes Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin,Texas, Aug 8th 1912:
The Council was called to order by the Mayor : Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none. The Minute of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none.
Petitions,etc: The Mayor laid. before the Council a petition from citizens asking to have certain street work done on East 20th street.The petition was read but no action taken on same. Reports of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council reports of the Marshal,the City Health Officer & Asst, the Matron of the Hospital, The Fire Marshal,for the month of May 1912, the Treasurer, the City Clerk, the City Sexton,which were read and ordered filed. Councilman Bartholomew presented reports from the Water & Light Dept for the months of Feby & March 1912,which were ordered filed. Councilman Hart presented the reports of the Plumbing Inspector for the months of May, June and July ,which were read and ordered filed. Councilman Hart presented a report from the Fire Commissioners of the City recommending the extension of the Fire Limits of the City and suggesting certain additional rules,etc, which was read but no action taken. The Council then recessed until 2.P M this day.
August 8th 1912, 2 P M: The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present: Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That H L Haynes,Supt Receipts Disbursements and Accounts ,in charge of the Sanitary Dept be and is hereby authorized to have the following transfers made from the amount set aside to pay salaries and men of said Sanitary Dept ,to the following accounts of said Dept,viz: For Miscellaneous Credit $ 100.00 For Tools 100.00 For Outside sprinkling 250.00 Burying dead animals 550.00 Making total transfer $ 550.00 The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution : Whereas, the Board of Appraisers of this City assessed against one O G Hill on the first d day of January 1911, an automobile at the value of $ 500.00 ,the City taxes on the same for the year 1911 amounting to $ 7.82.; and, Whereas, said O G Hill has made affidavit ,which affidavit is attached hereto,that said assessment was made erroneously ,that he was not the owner of said automobile on the 1st d day of January 1911,and that he sold the same in June of the year 1910; therefore,

Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the assessment of said automobile valued at $ 500.00 against said O G Hill,be and the same is hereby cancelled ,and the Assessor and Collector of this City is hereby authorized and instructed to make note of said cancellation on the tax roll for 1911. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. - Moore pound fee Councilman Hart offered the following resolution : The cow of_ Moore having been impounded ,having escaped from a pasture outside the City limits, and the owner being without means to redeem her, he being a very poor man, and the Supt of Police and Public Safetyrecom-mending the remission of the fee of $ 1.50.; therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That said fee of $ 1.50 be and the same is hereby remitted: The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none.
Pat Kelley pound fee Councilman Hart offered the following resolution : It appearing to the City Council that a mare and coltbbelonging to one Pat Kelley,who lives outside the City limits, was found within the Pound limits,was impounded, remained in the pound six daysand was advertised for sale before the owner knew of the fact.It further appears that the animals escaped from a pasture some distance from the City; that the owner is a very poor man without any means whatever to pay the fees due the City,or any part of same, or any hope of redeeming the stock in case they should be sold,and the animals being in the City limits by accident,and without the knowledge of the owner ,and the Supt of Police and Public Safety recommending it; therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That all of said fees amounting to $5.00 ,be and the same are hereby remitted. Theresolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. J H Weibish pound fee Councilman Hart presented to the Council a petition from J H Weibish ,asking to have certain pound fees remitted, . Councilman Hart moved that the petition be NOT granted,which motion prevailed by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none.

Jas P Hart,Esq, I most respectfully ask that the following fines be remitted for reasons given. Henry Barber $ 15.85,for furnishing information which led to arrest of Laurence Straun indicted for assault to murder.

Expenses City The Mayor laid before the council a bill of the City Attorney ,for expenses to a conference Atty of City Attorneys at Marshall Texas, ,amounting to $ 22.20, which was approved for payment by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Dear Sir: Fire Limits The committee appointed by the Board of Fire commissioners to revise and Report Com. amend the Fire Limits , beg leave to submit our report,and recommend that the following territory hereafter constitute the Fire limits of the City of Austin. Respectfully submitted , . Leo Mueller, .Chief Tom W Roberts .Recorder. Committee. Councilman Hart moved that the City Attorney be directed to prepare and submit to the Council an ordinance in accordance with the above report and recommendation, which motion prevailed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Hart & Powell 3 Nays Councilmen Haynes & Bartholomew 2 The Council then recessed subject to call. Dr Frank Litton Austin Aug 13th 1912. Building permit The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present: Councilman Hart presented a petition from Dr Frank Litton ,asking permission to add to his Office ,in the Fire Limits .
