426 9th qmc .Regular meeting of the City Council: Austin,Texas, Jany 9th 1912. The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none. The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and approved. Reports of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council the reports of the Plumbing Inspector, the Fire Marshal, the City Health Officer and his Assistant, the Matron of the Hospita the Marshal and the Assessor and Collector,which were read and ordered filed. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : transferred That the City Treasurer and Assistant City Clerk be and they are hereby directed to transfer the sum of ten thousand ($10,000.00) dollars from the Cemetery bond fund to the Cemetery fund. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Hart,Haynes & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Bartholomew 1 Approved A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : Beckwith & That permit be and is hereby granted to Beckwith & Sonto maintain an electric Sonto sign in front of their place of business at 122 West 6th street. sign Said sign is to be at least 9feet above the sidewalk and to be securely suspended from the awning above said sidewalk, and to bear thereon these words: " " Cigars, Books and News-Pocket Billiards". Be it further resolved: That the work authorized under this permitis to be supervised by the Assistant Supt of the Water, Light and Power Department. Be it further resolved: That this permit is revocable at the pleasure of the City Council. R H Baker The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : assessment Whereas, it appears from the attached affidavit of R H Baker that his debts,evide Corrected -nced by notes on the 1st day of January 1912,much exceeded the vendor lien note in the amount of $ 2,000.00,assessed against him by the City Board of equalizatio on the 1st day of January 1912; therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That said assessment be and is hereby cancelled ,and that the Assessor and Collector is authorized and directed to take credit upon his assessment rolls for the year1912 in accordance with this resolution . TB [illegible] The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Chambers Based upon the attached affidavit of Tom B Walli ng,owner of certain vendor lien Lien notes assessed against Mrs Elizabeth Ann Chambers by the City of Austin for the --- Page break --- 427 .year 1912,in which affidavit Tom B Wallingswears that on the 1st day of January 1912, he was no that the owner of said vendors lien notes assessed against Mrs Elizabeth Ann Chambers, but he owed against the same,as collateral,amounts in excess of $ 4,000.00; therefore Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the said Assessment against the said Mrs Elizabeth Ann Chambers for the year 1912, be and is hereby cancelled. Be it further resolved: That the Assessor and Collector be and he is hereby authorized and directed to take credit upon his assessment rolls for the year 1912 in accordance with this resolution. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Woolbridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes & Powell 4& Absent Councilman Bartholomew 1 Nays none. The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present: The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That permit be and is hereby granted the Officials of the University of Texas to curb the four corners of the University forty acre enclosure with curbs of fifteen feet radii. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. University Curbs to put in curbing The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the donation to the City of Austin of the streets and alleys of the sub-division of Outlot 62, Div "O" of the City of Austin, Texas, as they appear on the plat filed in the Office of the Assessor and Collector,be and is hereby accepted,and the names designated in said sub-division are approved. This acceptance of donation is made upon the condition that Haskell street from Canadian street east to the boundary of Outlot 62, Div "O" be widthed and graded to the satisfaction of the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements within ninety days from and after this date. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Donation Streets accepted & filed The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That permit be and is hereby granted to Jno S Richbourg to establish a temporary line of poles and string it with the necessary wires from 38 and San Gabriel streets to 41st and San Gabriel streets for use as a telephone wire.The poles to be placed under this permit must be at least twenty feet out of the groundand at least four inches square in dimension at the top.This permit is absolutely temporary and revocable by the City Council at any time in its pleasure,and in any event must terminate on the 1st day of July,1913.
