434 Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin,Texas, Juny 30th 1913. The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none. The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and adopted ;by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Councilman Bartholomew presented a petition from Asst Book-keepers in the Water & Light Office,asking an increase of Salary, which was read and referred Petition Asst Book Keepers increase of Salary to the Mayor and Councilman Bartholomew. Councilman Hart presented the following report: Austin,Texas, January 24th 1913. To the Hon Mayor and City Council , City of Austin: Gentlemen : We, your Committee appointed to verfy the report of the City Report City Sewerage election Clerk ,as to the result of the election held in this City on the 15th day of January 1913, on the proposition to purchase the properties of the Austin Sewerage Co,beg leave to report that we have examined the returns made by the Officers of election to the City Clerk,and find the report made by the Clerk to be correct. Respectfully submitted, Jas P Hart, P W Powell, Committee. On motion the report was received and ordered filed and recorded in the minutes of the Council . Note. Attached to the report is a det. 'ed statement of the vote by precinct. The Mayor laid before the Council a petition from Jno N Seals asking permission to use Player Pianna ,in his place of business 421 East 6th street, Petition J N Seals to use Player Pianna which was read but no action taken on same. Councilman Hart presented an ordinance fixing and determining the Fire Limits of the City of Austin. Fire Limit Ordinance The ordinance was read the first time,and the rule suspended and it placed on its second reading by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The ordinance was read the second time and the rule suspended and it placed on its third reading and final passage,by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The ordinance was read the third time and passed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge ,Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. --- Page break --- 435 Petition W B Walker & Son To refuse cash payment claim .Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution : Beit resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the petition of W B Walker & Sons for the payment by the City of the bill rendered against them and due and owning by them to the City of Austin for material and labor together amounting to $ 352.92 for special water mains with fittings leading their building on 4th street for special fire protection, be and the same is hereby declined. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge,Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council recessed subject to call. Leave of absence M C Welborn To visit Atlanta Ga Austin,Texas, Feby 5th 1913. The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present: Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That leave of absence be and is hereby granted M C Welborn for the period of two weeks from and after the 7th inst ,to visit Atlanta ,Ga, and possibly one or more intermediate points in the interest of ascertaining the best method of handling sewageof modern Sewer systems. Be it resolved further: That one hundred and twenty five ($ 125.00) dollars or so much thereof as may be necessary ,be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the Sanitary Sewer fund to the expense of this trip . The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved ,A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council then recessed subject to call. Bids on sewer work Austin, Texas, Feby 5th 1913. The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present: Councilman Powell laid before the Council bids for Sewer work, received as per advertisement as follows General Construction Co: On Canadian Street work $ 2,649.50 Trinity 16th & Neches streets 2,735.08 1st Street 5,560.00 F D Horton : Canadian Street $ 2,996.25 Trinity 16 th & Neches streets 2,377.98 1st Street 5,454.10 Johnson & Carr: Canadian Street $ 2,428.30 Trinity 16th & Neches streets 2,730.55 1st Street 5,033.50 The bids were referred to the Supt Streets and the Engineer for calculation and report . --- Page break --- 436 .Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : Kimmaree Ave- That the bid of Johnson and Carrto lay the Sewer main on Canadian street Sewermain from Holly to 3rd streets for the price of $ 2,428.30,be and thesameis hereby Canadian St accepted,and the contract ot do said work at sais price is hereby awarded to + 1st Street said Johnson & Carr. accepted Be it further resolved : That the bid of Johnson & Carr,to lay the sewer main on 1st street ,from Trinity street to East Avenue for the price of $ 5,033.50 ,be and the same is hereby accepted ,and the contract to do said work at said price id hereby awarded to said Johnson and Carr. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved ,A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Bid F D Horton Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : Sewermain That the bid of F D Horton to lay the sewer main on Trinity 16th and Neches Neches & Trinity streets from 14th to 18th streets ,for the price of $ 2,379.98,be and the same accepted . Be it further resolved : That the contract to do said work at said price is hereby awarded to said F D Horton. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council then adjourned. J. J.
