445 . Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin,Texas, Feby 20th 1913. The Council was called to order bty the Mayor with member present Roll called; Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none. The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetingswer eread and approved. Petitions,etc; The Mayor laid before the Council the following petition: Austin,Texas, Feby 8th 1913. To the Hon Mayor and City Council : We the undersigned respectfully petition your honorable body to grant us the use of a space of ground about 200 feet above the dam ,the space to be 200 X 50 feet ,of the overflowed ground to be covered by the back waters of Lake Austin when the dam is finished. For the purpose of building a steam launch 12X 60 feet propelled with gasoline power. Respectfully submitted . Henry Paggi, C O Peterson. Councilman Hart presented a petition from Citizens, asking the Council to remit a fine assessed in the Recorders Court against Mr Howard,which was read and on motion of Councilman Hart the fine in this case amounting to $ 14.80.was remitted by the following vote; Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Fine of E. C. Howard Remitted Reports of City Officers: Councilman Bartholomew presented the report of the City Sexton for the month of Jany 1913, which was read and ordered filed. Councilman Powell presented the following communication from the City Engineer Austin,Texas, 2/ 20/13. To the HonMayor and City Council,City of Austin,Texas. gentlemen : The specifications for Bitulithic pavement to be laid on East 5th street from the West curb line of Trinity street to the West curb line of East Avenue,on San Jacinto street from the north line of 5th street to the south line of 6th street,and on North Congress Avenue from Capitol grounds to the south side of 19th street, will be the same as that filed for Bitulithic pavementon Lavacca street from 7th to 19th streets. Bids for Culvert Red River & 11th St. Austin , Feby 24th 1913: The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present: Councilman Powell submitted bids for building a Culvert on Red River street at the corner of 11th street, from C Q Horton, The Midland Bridge Co, A A Mundt and Rv.Dixon,which opened ,read and referred to the City Engineer for calculation and report. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That forty two thousand, five hundred ($ 42,500.) dollars appropriated in the budget of Appropriation to purchase Bonds. the Water, Light and Power Dept of the City of Austin for the year 1913, for the redemption of the Refunding bonds of this City of the issue of 1901, be and the same are hereby transferred to the credit of the Interest and Sinking funds of this City. Permanent Street Improvement fund of the City of Austin to correct an error in the amount heretofore appropriated in paymen to f the Geo Southernwood and wife five notes ,taken over from the Texas Bitulithic Company for permanent street paving in front of the residence of said Geo Southernwood and Wife on West 6th street in this City . The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : Bridge Sewage funds That the recommendation of the Mayor appropriating the proceeds of the sale of $250,000. Sewr bonds ,which recommendations are in the form of a budget and bear date Feby 24th 1913, and which aggregate in the total $ 250,420.50,be and the same are hereby approved and made ,as in said budget are recommended. The Council then recessed subject to call. Contract for Culvert Red River & 11th Awarded to A. A. Mundt Feby 25th,1913, The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present: The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the bid of A A Mundt to build the reinforced concrete culvert across Waller Creek at about the intersection of 11th & Red River streets for the price of $ 4,492.00, be and the same is hereby accepted. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That two hundred ($ 200.00) dollars out of the general contingent fundbe and the same is hereby set apart and appropriated to pay Messrs L N Goldbeck and Herman Pressler for the conveyance to the City of Austin for street purposes of a strip of land of varying width from twenty one(21') feet to nine and ahalf feet (9½') and six hundred and sixty four feet (664') long on the west side of a tract of about seven (7) acres recently purchased by them of Thomas Spence of this City ,and coming up for its western line to East Avenue; and for the further conveyance to the City of Austnfor street purposes of a strip of land varying from seventeen (17') feet to nineteen (19') feet in width by four hundred ,fifty and and five tenths feet ( 450 5/10) in length on the south side of said Spence property, to be a part of Holly street in this City.
