470 . Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin, Texas, April 03, 1913. Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes and Powell 5 Absent none. The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and adopted . Councilman Bartholomew presented his report as Supt of the Water and Light Plant for the month of February ,1913, which was read and .ordered filed Motorcycle Police Dept Councilman Hart offered the following resolution : It appearing to the City Council that the Supt of Police and Public Safety desires to exchange one of the Motorcycles in use by the Police Dept, for a new one ,allowing $ 87.50 for the old one, leaving a balance of $ 160.00 to be paid for the new machine, and it appearing that the present one has been in use for over two years ,and a new machine will have to be procured at an early date; therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the Supt of Police and Public Safety be and he is hereby authorized to make said exchange. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council a petition from V O Weed ,asking V O Weed building permit permission to erect a corrugated Iron shed over lot within the fire limits, which was read and on motion the petition was REFUSED, by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Hart, Haynes & Powell 4 Not voting Councilman Bartholomew 1 Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : A resolution finally accepting pavement and improvement of San Jacinto street from 5th to 6th streets. Whereas, the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements has filed his Councelmen Hart res. accepted report with the City Council to the effect that the Texas Bitulithic Company has completed the work of paving and improving San Jacinto street from 5th to 6th streets under contract with the City and that said work has been fully done in strict accordance with said contract and specifications adopted by the City; Therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the said work of improvement be finally accepted by the City and that the final estimate due by the City to the said Company be paid. The re solution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Mayor Wooldridge presented the following communication : Austin, Texas, April 1st 1913. Honorable City Council , City of Austin, Texas. --- Page break --- 471 .Gentlemen : I beg to here amend my budget for expenditures for the General Street Con-struction Department of this City for the year 1913, and recommend that one thousand ( $ 1,000.00) dollars of the increased funds available by reason of a large collection of advalorum taxes ,be set apart to permanent street crossings, the work to be done in the manner form,place and character as the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements may approve. The resolution was adopted by the following vote; Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the sum of two hundred sixty six & 15/100) ($ 266.15) dollars,be and is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent fund of this City for the current year ,and transferred to the General Street fund of this City to assist in the matter of Permanent Street crossings. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That one thousand ($ 1,000.00) dollars of the General Street funds of this City for the year 1913, be apportioned to permanent street crossings. The work to be done in manner and place as the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements may direct. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved , A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the sum of thirteen hundred , twenty two and 65/100 ( $ 1,322.65 ) dollars ,be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General contingent fund of the City of Austin of Austin to pay to J W Maxwell Attorneys fees for collecting delinquent taxes from the period of the 21st day of November 1912 to the 11th day of February 1913, An itemized statement of the bill of said Maxwell ,aggregating collections for the period above named of $ 7,254.50 covers the six attached pages of data,which pages are hereby declared to be an exhibit to and a part of this resolution ,and they are countersigned by A P Wooldridge, Mayor on each page of said account. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Hart, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council then recessed subject to call. --- Page break --- 472 Moving Picture Stand 500 E 6th The Council was called to order by the Mayor, with all members present,except Councilman Powell. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the petition of W Twining,for the Austin Electrical Supply and PlumbingCo which petition is attached hereto,to install an iron box for a colored moving picture show at 500 East 6th street,be and the same is hereby granted. Be it further resolved: That consent be and is hereby granted to install said iron box at said 500 East 6th street of the dimensions of 4 1/4 inches deep,24 inches wide and 30 inches long. This permit is granted upon the recommendation of Walter L Eyres, City Electrical Inspector, as being in substantial compliance with the present ordinance of this City upon this subject. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart, Haynes & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Powell 1 Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Pay for Use of Automobile Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution: Resolved that the sum of $ 11.17 /100be appropriated out of the Earnings fund ,being one half amount expended by W L Eyres, Assistant Supt on account of casing for his Automobile used in service for the City. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew,Hart,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The Council then recessed subject to call. Friday April 5th 1913. Building Permit J T Parker The Council was called to order by the Mayor, with all members present except Councilmen Haynes & Powell. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That a permit be and is hereby granted to J T Parker to erect a frame gallery with iron posts covered with tin ,twenty two feet long by ten feet wide,in front of his property at 506 Neches street. Be it further resolved: That the roof to the double deck awning granted by the first provision of this resolution shall have a fall of one and a half feet from the wall to the sidewalk line. The purpose of this requirement is that the roof shall not in any way interfere with the light wires extending along and above the double deck awning herein authorized.
