509 . Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin, Texas, May 22, 1913. The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haymes & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Anthony 1 The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and adopted Councilman Bartholomew presented the report of the Supt of the Water & Light Plant for the month of April 1913, which was read and ordered filed. Unfinished business: The Mayor laid before the Council the petition of Citizens asking to have the Wages of Teams working for the City increased, which was read at the last meeting and action postponed until this date, which was discussed ,but no action had. The Mayor laid before the council the following communication and protest, which was read: Austin, Texas, May 15th 1913. To the Hon Mayor and City Councilmen : Sirs: I wish to enter my protestagainst the granting the Railroad Company any more tracks or switches on third street in front of my property at 501 East 3rd street, for the following reasons: If the tracks come any nearer to our curbing the smoke and cinders from the engines will kill my trees which are very valuable. Further the engine passing the house now shakes every window and door in it and by putting the track any nearer will shake the house worse and cause the plaster to crack and fall. It will also cause my family all kinds of annoyances. I hope you will give this your most serious consideration ,I am, Yours most respectfully. J B Gouldy, 501 E 3rd street ,Austin, Texas. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Resolution finally accepting pavement and improvement of Red River street from 5th street to 6th street and intersection of 5th street and Red River street. I am returning to you the claim of Mrs Alice Stovall against the City of Austin, Mrs Alice Stovall for damages on account of injuries received by her on February 24th 1913, by falling near Claim for damages the curbing on Avenue C and 6th street, Hyde Park, in the amount of $ 315.00. opinion City My investigation of the facts has convinced me that there is no liability on.the part of Atty the City, and I respectfully recommend that the claim be rejected.
