Regular meuting of the City Council: Austin, Texas, June 12, 1913. The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Roll called: Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none. The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and approved. On motion of Mayor Wooldridge Mr C H Freese was granted a permit to peddle in the City of Austin for 3 days without paying a City License, by the following vote: Yeas -Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none.
Reports of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council the following reports of City Officers for the month of May 1913: Inspector Weights and Measures, Inspector of Health, Dr Krueger, which were read and ordered filed. Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That permit be and is hereby granted to G Flury, agent for the Graham Drug Co, to install and maintain an electric sign across the sidewalk and above the awning in front of the store house of said Graham Drug store at the corner of West 9th and Congress Avenue, in this City. This sign is to have the words "GRAHAMS" placed upon it in electric lights. The work to be done under this permit is to be done under the authorization of the Asst Supt of the Water, Light and Power Dept, and is to be held and deemed as revocable at the pleasure of the City Council. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That $ 100.00 of the amount standing to the credit of an appropriation for $ 500.00 for soil, gravel and grading at Brush Park, be and the same is hereby transferred and made available for Miscellaneous expenses at University Avenue Park in this City. V Confirmed. with designation .Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin,Texas: That R G Tyler be and he is hereby appointed to the position of 2nd Asst Engineer in place of J P Murray resigned , same to take effect on the 1st day of July 1913. Anthony presented the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That upon the nomination of Councilman W B Anthony the following named persons are hereby confirmed as Chief,lst Assistant Chief,2nd Assistant Chief ,Recorder and Assistant Recorder of the Austin Fire Department. J W T Goslin Chief, Tom Roberts ,lst Assistant Chief , Lee Caldwell ,2nd Assistant Chief, W R Grimes, Recorder Oscar Wiederstrom ,Assistant Recorder. Appropriation for Park Keeper University Ave Park. V Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the item of $ 500.00 in the budget of the Park Dept for the year 1913 appropriated to pay an additional Park Keeper ,subject to assignment ,be and the same is hereby transferred and set apart for a Park Keeper at University Avenue Park in this City,with the stipulation that said Park Keeper be and he is hereby made subject to such other work and assignment as the Supt of Parks and Public Property may in his pleasure direct. Pound fee J A Robbins remitted. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Upon the recommendation of the Supt of Police and Public Safety, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the pound fee of $ 1.50 against J A Robbins for one cow impounded during the month of May be remitted. Be it further resolved that one & 50/100 dollars ( $ 1.50)be and is hereby appropriated out of the General contingent fund of this City to cover this refund. 531 Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : A resolution ordering the construction of certain sidewalks on North Congress Avenue in the City of Austin, Texas. The resolution was read and laid over . The Council then recessed subject to call.

Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : Texas Tobacco Co. That permit be and is hereby granted to the Texas Tobacco Co doing business at 819 Congress Sign ✓ Avenue , to erect and maintain an electric light sign in front of their place of business. This sign must be at least nine feet above the sidewalk and must be securely attached to the awning above the sign . The sign is to be in the design of the petition hereto attached, which has received the approval of W L Eyres, Asst Supt of the Water, Light and Power Dept. The work authorized under this permit must be done under the supervision of the Asst Supt of the Water, Light and Power Dept and be subject to the approval of the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements. The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present: The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Whereas, it appears from the attached affidavit of M C Miller that the assess-ments of vendors lien notes made against him for the years 1899,1900 and 1901 Jno Mc Millan Amended √ were assessed in error ; and, Whereas, said Miller makes affidavit that in all of said years he had interest bearing debts largely in excess of the credits assessed against him ; therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the assessment rolls of the City for the years 1899,1900 and 1901be corrected ,and the assessments made against said Miller for these years be and the same are hereby stricken off XMHXXMXXXX Be it further resolved : That the Assessor and Collector take credit according to the terms of this resolution . Robt Bain Tax Remitted ✓ THE Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Whereas, it appears from the attached statement of Robt Bain, which the Council accepts as correct, that the assessment made against him for personal property for the year 1895, wassim improperly levied against him ; and , Whereas, Special Tax Collector, Mr J W Maxwell, states that he does not believe that a suit against said Bain for taxes levied upon said property could now be successfully maintained; Therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin :

That said assessment against said Bain for personal property for the year 1895, be and the same is hereby ordered stricken from the assessment rolls and the Assessor and Collector declared entitled to take credit accordingly. Jones Assessment Corrected ✓ The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Whereas, it appears from the attached affidavit of Chas J Jones that the assessment against said Jones of credits in the form of Vendor's lien notes in the amount of $ 7,000.00 ,for the year 1903, be corrected and said assessment of $ 7,000.00 , cancelled and stricken from the assessment rolls for said year 1903, and the Assessor and Collector be and is hereby declared entitled to credit upon his rolls in accordance with the provisions of this resolution . Daniel Assessment Corrected ✓ The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Whereas, it appears from the affidavit of W P Daniels, attached hereto, that the $ 1,000.00 of credits assessed against Mrs W P Daniel for the year 1896, was assessed in error,in thatsaid note referred to in said affidavit was altogether an accommodation note only and represented no real value for assessment for taxes: Therefore , Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That said assessment against said Mrs W P Daniel for the year 1896, be cancelled and the Assessor and Collector be declared entitled to correct his assessment rolls accordingly. 534 Felix Cherico. building permit
The following resolution was passed by the Council on the 12th of June, 1913, but was not handed the Clerk until the morning of the 19th Inst ,hence it is recorded at this time. be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That permit be and is hereby granted to Felix Cherico to erect a skeleton Iron staircase not more than three feet wide on the sidewalk on San Jacinto street south of 6th street ,for access to the second or upper stories of a building about to be erected at said place. Be it further resolved : That said staircase must be erected not less than 25 feet from the property line off of 6th street at said building,located at the corner of San Jacinto and East 6th streets. Be it further resolved : That the work to be done under this permit is to be done under the supervision and with the approval of the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements. Be it further resolved : That this permit is given and is to be held and accepted as revocable at the pleasure of the City Council . The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none.

June 14th 1913. The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present: The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance granting to Austin Dam and Suburban Railway Company the right and permitting said Company to construct maintain and operate a Railroad Switch track or turn out upon and across certain streets in the City of Austin,subject to certain conditions. The ordinance was read the first time and a motion made to suspend the rule and place it on its secondreading, which motion prevailed by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The ordinance was read the second time and laid over for one week. The Council adjourned.
