558 . Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin, Texas, July 17, 1913. The Council was called to order by the Mayor : Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew & Haynes 4 Absent Councilman Powell 1 The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and adopted . Dog Muzzling Ordinance ✓ The Mayor laid before the Council An ordinance amending an ordinance entitled " An ordinance regulating the muzzling of Dogs , and prescribing a penalty for the violation thereof", The ordinance was read the third time. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the width of the center parking area of East Avenue from 2nd street south be and is hereby established as 80 feet between curb lines, Resolved , that the width of roadway on each side of center parks be and is hereby established as 30 feet between curb lines,and Resolved, that the parkways be rectangular in shape and that the corners of same be rounded to a fifteen foot radius ; and Park & East Avenue ✓ Resolved, that the parkway between 1st & 2nd streets.[strikethrough]to the north curb line of[/strikethrough] 1st street, from the south curb line of 2nd street to the north curb line of 1st street, measured on the West side of East Avenue ; that the parkway between 1st and Driskill streets extend from the south curb line of 1st street to the north curb line of Driskill street; that the parkway south from Driskill street extend from the south curb line of Driskill street a distance of approx-imately 165 feet ; the center of this parkway to be on the center line of Willow street as extended from the east,and that the south parkway be the same length as the north parkway and to start 30 feet from the parkway immediately north. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew & Haynes 4 Absent Councilman Powell - 1 Approved , A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : Appropriation for U. of T. ✓ That fifty dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent fund of the City of Austin for the year 1913, as a contribution to the expenses of the campaign conducted in the interest of the bond amendment for enlarging the University grounds and the construction of new buildings for the University . The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew & Haynes 4 Absent Councilman Powell 1 Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. --- Page break --- 559 Driver(s) (Chief) Fire Co. appointed & Confirmed ✓ .Councilman Anthony,upon the recommendation of the officers of the North Austin Fire Co, nominated the following named persons as Driver & Assistant Drivers of the New Auto to be furnished said Co ,viz : Paul R Schwingle to be Chief Driver, Assistant Drivers , Tom Quinn, Henry Oertli Jr, and Wa. Walter Lloyd . The nominations were confirmed by the following vote: the vote being taken on each seperately: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew & Haynes 3 Not voting Councilman Anthony 1 Absent Councilman Powell 1 Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution : Whereas, it appears from the attached affidavit of Wm J Rudolph that, on the 1st day of January 1912, his debts exceeded the credits of $ 1500 .00 assessed against him for the year 1912; therefore , Assessments Wm J Rudolph Cancelled. ✓ Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That said assessment of $ 1600.00 against the said Wm J Rudolph for the year 1912, be and the same is hereby cancelled ,and the Assessor & Collector declared entitled to take credit accordingly. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes 4 Absent Councilman Powell 1 Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. ByxxThe Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Whereas, it appears from the attached petition and affidavit thereto by Angelo Franzetti that the credits assessed against him for the years 1911 & 1912,in the amount of $ 720.00 for each year ,were assessed in error and represented credits of no real value to him ; and Assessment Angelo Franzetti Cancelled. ✓ Whereas, the taxes on said property against which said credits werexissued have been duly paid by said Franzetti; Now therefore , Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the assessment of credits against the said Angelo Franzetti for the years 1911 and 1912,in the amount of $ 720.00 for each year ,be and the same are hereby cancelled and annulled, and the Assessor & Collector authorized to take credit accordingly. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew & Haynes 4 Absent Councilman Powell 1 The Council then recessed subject to call. --- Page break --- Sewen bias to be Called for ✓ Sy Warren ordered to construct a Catch basin in Front laundry 806 City 806 Cing ave ✓ Transfer fund ✓ --- Page break --- .Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That Four hundred sixty five & 71/100 ( $ 465.71 ) dollars be and the same is hereby ordered appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Austin for the year 1913, in payment of the attached bill for the collection of taxes upon credits , amounting to $ 3, 725.70, turned in by Messrs Hill and Long for the period from June 6th to July 7th, 1913, as per their agreement with this City to pay them a commission of 12 1/2 % of taxes listed by themselves with this City for taxation and not otherwise upon the assessment rolls of this City . Hill & Long Approved payment of fee The commission paid to said Hill and Long is 12 1/2 % upon $ 3,725.70, and the credits are set forth in the attached two pages of names ,amounts of taxes collected , amount of commission to be paid and dates ,and certified by Fred Sterzing,Assessor and Collector , and O Kd by A P Wooldridge, Mayor ,on each of the two pages. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council adjourned. Geo.
