C70 .Regular meeting of the City Council: Austin, Texas, December 18, 1913. The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent None. The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and approved. Councilman Bartholomew presented his report as Supt of the Water & Light Dept for the month of Nov 1913, which was read and ordered filed. Councilman Haynes presented the report of the Sanitary Inspector for the month of Nov 1913, which was read and ordered filed : Unfinished business : Imp of alley between 5th & 6th st. The Mayor laid before the Council a resolution ordering the improvement of the alley between 5th & 6th streets from the East line of Brazos to the West line of San Jacinto street, and from the East line of San Jacinto street to the West line of of Trinity street , in the City of Austin : and approving specifications, propo-sal contract and bond therefor., which had been read at the last regular meeting of the council and laid over until this meeting. The resolution was read and adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council athefollowing resolution : Cont. with Louis Hancock ordered Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin that the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized abd directed to execute on behalf of the City the certain contract between the City of Austin and Lewis Hancock, the terms of which are hereinafter set out in full, a duplicate copy of said contract after the execution thereof by both parties thereto to be filed with the City Clerk. The resolution was read and adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution : Whereas, it appears from the statement of J H Adams, which statement is corroborated by the Dept Assessor & Collector , T L Purnell, that ther were no improvements upon Lots 24 & 25, in Block 10 of Hyde Park Addition No1 to the Assess mnt Cancelled City of Austin, Texas, on the 1st day of January 1912, and that the assessment for $1,100.00 for improvements upon said lots on the1st day of January 1912, was made in error; Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the assessment for $ 1,100.00 for improvements against Lots 24 & 25, Block 10 Hyde Park Addition No 1, for the year 1912 be and the same is hereby cancelled and annulled. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. --- Page break --- 671 Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the railroad tracks in Colorado street between the south property line of 2nd street and the south property line of 3rd street ,be and the same is hereby ordered to be paved Paving R.R. Tracks Colo Street. ✓ with vitrified brick . Be it further resolved: That the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements be and he is hereby instructed to take such necessary ,proper ,legal and effective steps for the paving of said railroad tracks in Colorado street between the south property line of 2nd street and the south prop-erty line of 3rd street as the ordinances of the City of Austin require. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Whereas, The Consumers Fuel & Ice Co, is at this time indebted to the City of Austin ,inits. Water, Light & Power Dept,in the sum of $ 435.65; Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: Unb. dele Consumers fuel & ice to be paid to Bartholomew. ✓ That the City Clerk of this City be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to deliver to E C Bartholomew, Supt of the Water, Light and Power Dept ,such warrants as he now has on handor may hereafter have occasion to issue to the Consumers Fuel & Ice Co,for debts now owing or to become owing by the City of Austin to said Consumers Fuel & Ice Co,until the entire indebtedness to the City of Austin by the Consumers Fuel & Ice Co is fully paid off and discharged. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Paving West 6th st West av to Harthan st accepted ✓ A resolution finally accepting pavement and improvement of West 6th street ,between the intersection of West Avenue and Harthan street, on the North side ,and Walsh street on the south side; Whereas, the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements has filed his report with the City Council to the effect that the Texas Bitulithic Co, has completed the work of paving and improving West 6th street , between the intersection of West Avenue and Harthan street, on the north side , and Walsh street on the south side,under contract with the City and that said work has been fully done in strict accordance with said contract and specifications adopted by the City, Therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the said work of improvement be accepted by the City and that the final estimate due by the City to the said Co be paid. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. --- Page break --- C72 Robt Mueller & Bro Sign ✓ The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Whereas, W L Eyres, sign Inspector ,has approved the electric light sign to be erected by Robt Mueller & Bro.,at 510 Congress Avenue.; Now, Therefore , Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : Thfs permission be and is hereby granted to Robt Mueller & Bro to erect and maintain at their place of businesssat 510 Congress Avenue an electric light sign The sign is to be about 4 feet long by 3 feet high and at least 8 feet above the sidewalk . Be it further resolved : That the permit here granted is revocable at the pleasure of the City Council .
