772 Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin, Texas, April 30, 1914 The Council was called to order by the Mayor : Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none. The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and adopted: Councilman Anthony presented bids for painting roofs & Tower of Colorado Fire Hall as follows: Walter J Daly $ 105.00 Tony Wagner 72.05 C G Saladee 125.00. On motion of Councilman Anthony, the contract for the said work, was awarded to Tony Wagner , for $ 72.05, by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Whereas, from time to time there are receipts of money from the rental of the auditorium Building in this City, situated upon the Public Park lying between Guadalupe and San Antonio streets , and expenditures of money be reason of the maintenance of the auditorium located on the above described property;and Whereas, at the present time there is no specificate account kept by either the Assessor & collector nor the City Treasurorof the receipts and expenditures of said auditorium Building. Now, therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin; Texas: That both the Assessor & collector and the City Treasurer of the City of Austin, Texas, are authorized and instructed to open anappropriate account , entitled " Auditorium Account " , in which the receipts and expenditures of money by reason of the maintenance and conduct of said auditorium shall be correctly entered. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That, in consideration of the fact that R R Banner was and is a non-resident of Austin and not familiar with its automobile speed limits law s, the fine of $ 19.80 imposed upon him on April 8th 1914, in cause No 8470 in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, Texas, be and the same is hereby remitted . The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew ,Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Lumartin Fine remitted ✓ Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council then recessed subject to call. May 1st 1914. The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present,except Council-man Anthony. Councilman Haynes presented the following communication: Austin,Texas, May 1st 1914. To the Hon Mayor and City Council of the City of Austin, Gentlemen: City Board of Equalization ✓ Under provisions of Section 22 of the Charter of the City of Austin, I have the honor to nominate the following qualified Citizens as a Board o f Equalizationfor the City of Austin ,to-wit: Chas A Kuse for a term of one year,and L M Layton and Chas P Ledbetter each for a term of two years, and respectfully ask for their confirmation . The nominations were confirmed by the following vote: The vote upon each being taken seperately: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew & Powell 3 Absent Councilman Anthony 1 Not voting Councilman Haynes . Tobe Cloud Patrolman resignation ✓ Councilman Anthony entered the Council chamber and answered to his name. Councilman Anthony presented the resignation of Tobe Cloud ,Patrolman, resignation to take effect at once: The resignation was accepted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. J H Colley appointed ✓ Councilman Anthony ,Supt of Police and Public Safety ,nominated J H Colley to be Patrolman, ,which nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Not voting Councilman Anthony 1 Colorado Hose Co Rules & regulations ✓ Councilman Antony presented copy of Ruled and regulations adopted by Colorado Hose Co No 2, for the government of paid employees of that Co,which were read and adpoted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes and Powell 5 Nays none. --- Page break --- 774 Trans funds various departments ✓ May 5th 1914. The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present: The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin,Texas: That theCity Treasurer be and he is hereby instructed to transfer the sum of five thousand,seventy three & 12/100 ($ 5073.12),from the General Street Improve-ment fundto the Sanitary Sewer Earnings fundfor the purpose of re- imbursing said fund for the $ 5.000.00 borrowed from saod fund by the General Street Improvement fund on November 1st, 1913, together with interest at the rate of 3.51per cent for five months. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That a permit be and is hereby granted to A G Smoot, General Manager of the Austin American ,to erect and maintain a galvanized Iron Shed ,eight feet by thirty feet , in the rear of the building located at 813 Congress Avenue in this City. No part of this structure ,either in the upright posts,or roof joists,or otherwise, is to be of wood,the whole structure is to be of Iron. Be it further resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That this permit is revocable at any time in the pleasure of the City Council The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none.
