    The city corrected an accounting error between street funds, paid for surveying the city's east line, and canceled court costs for old or erroneous tax assessments.

Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin, Texas, July 30, 1914. The Council was called to order by the Mayor : Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none. The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and approved : The following reports of City Officers were presented, read and ordered filed : Supt Water & Light Dept for the month of March 1914, and that of the Supt of Streets, etc., for the month of June 1914, and that of the City Marshal for the month of June, 1914. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : Transferred from That the City treasurer and the book-keeper for the Street Dept be and Gen. St. Fund to Perm. they are hereby authorized and directed to transfer from the General Street St. Fund fund to the Permanent Street fund the sum of $ 32.62, to reimburse the Permanent fund for this amount drawn from the Permanent fund ,which should have been drawn from the General Street fund: The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the sum of nineteen dollars and ten cents ($ 19.10) be and Appropriation O. E. the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent fund of the City Metcalf Locating of Austin for the current year in payment of the balance due and owing O E City line Metcalf ,Civil Engineer, for services in locating the east line of the City of Austin ,Texas, The items of this bill for this appropriation are set forth in the attached bill. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes and Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor . Traffic ordinance The Mayor laid before the Council An ordinance amending an ordinance entitled Ammended " An ordinance to regulate Traffic in and along the streets and ways of the City of Austin and establishing rules of the road and prescribing penalties for its violation ", passed and approved October 23rd 1911. The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell Nays none. --- Page break --- d a glaser sign .The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the petition of S A Glaser, having been endorsed by W L Byrns,Sign Inspector of the City of Austin, Texas, to install an electric light sign in front of his premises at 621 Congress Avenue ,be and the same is hereby granted. Said sign is to be about 5 feet 10 inches in length by 1 foot and 4 inches in heighth. Said sign is to be installed above the awning in front of the premises at 621 Congress Avenue and within the curb line. Be it further resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the permit hereby granted is revocable at any time in the pleasure of the City Council The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor . Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution : Whereas, it appears from the attached affidavit of L M Mitchell, and the Costs remitted L M Mitchell attached communication of J Bouldin Rector ,City Attorney, that the proportionate costs in cause No 25572, in the Dist Court of Travis County, Texas, of the City of Austin vs L M Mitchell for taxes due on lot No 5 in Block No 5 of the C R Johns subdivision of Outlot 57, Division "B" of the City of Austin,were erroneously assessed against the said L M Mitchell, the reputed owner of said property and the property itself, in that said L M Mitchell at no time owned said property. Now , therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the costs apportioned against the above described property , amounting to $ 4.08, be remitted, cancelled and annulled as against said property. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Whereas, it appears from the opinion of the City Attorney that it is uncertain if costs can be recovered upon judgments in tax suits more than ten years old. R J Grant Costs remitted Now, therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the costs in suit No 14273,in the Dist Court of Travis County, Texas, styled City of Austin vs R J Grant, amounting to $ 25.70, be and the same are hereby remitted, cancelled and annulled, and the costs in the suit of the City of Austin vs R J Grant,No 20427,in the Dist Court of Travis County, Texas, for taxes, amounting to $ 20.25, be also remitted,cancelled and annulled.These costs accrued in suit for taxes against Lots 9 & 10,in Block No 2, Grooms addition to the City of Austin,Texas, Sale under both of these judgments occurred on Aug 4th 1903. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present: Councilman Powell presented bids for Paving alleys between 7th and 10th streets and between Congress Avenue & Brazos streets, also alleys between 7th & 10th streets and between Congress Avenue & Colorado streets,bids submitted from W R Miller and McDonald Concrete Co, Councilman Powell moved that the Bid of the McDonald Concrete Co , being the lowestbid received, that they be awarded the contract, which motion prevailed by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony,Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none.
