129 Regular meeting of the City Council: Austin, Texas, October 15, 1914. The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Roll called: Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none. The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and adopted : Reports of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council the reports of the City Sexton, Supt Water & Light Plant & the Inspector Hospital building, which were read and ordered filed: Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution : Whereas,16th street from Comal to Concho streets in this City are entirely included in the extension to the East of Oakwood Cemetery and is intended to be incorpo-rated by the City in the said Annex, Now , therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That 16th street from Comal to Concho streets in this City be and the 16th Street Comal to Concho Closed to Traffic same is hereby declared vacated and closed to traffic, vehicular and otherwise. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution : Whereas, 17th street from Comal to Concho streets in the City of Austin is entirely included in the extension to the east of Oakwood Cemetery and is intended to be incorporated by the City in the said Annex, Now, therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That 17th street from Comal to Concho streets in this City be and the same are hereby declared vacated and closed to traffic , vehicular and otherwise . Now, therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That 18th street from Comal to Leona streets in this City be and the same is hereby declared vacated and closed to traffic, vehicular and otherwise. Sign --- Page break --- 141 Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the petition of the Statesman Publishing Company to erect and maintain an electric light sign at the corner of East 7th and Brazos streets in this City be and the same is hereby granted. Resolved further: That this permit is subject to revocation at any time in the pleasure of the City Council. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Bids for house were Councilman Haynes presented bids for House in the New City Cemetery Annex, which Cemetery & were opened, read and on motion all bids were rejected and Councilman Haynes directed to re-advertise for bids to be opened at a later date. Councilman Bartholomew presented bids for Fence around the New Cemetery, as follow W A Shananhonse bid $ 1.75 per foot E C Stanton 2.80 per Rod E L SoRelle 24 cents per foot Bids for fence J O Adrian 45 " " around Cemetery L M Ainsworth 32, " " E L Booth 26 " " On motion the bids were referred to Councilman Bartholomew for calculation and report. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the plans and specifications submitted by Geo S Iredell, Asst City Engineer, for a walk and appurtenant buildings on the frontage at Lake Austin above the Plans for Lake Dam be and the same are hereby adopted and approved. etc, approved. Be it further resolved: Bids asked for. That an advertisement for bids to do the work called for by said plans and specifications, in whole or in part, be inserted in the Austin American for five consecutive days prior to October 26th, 1914, and that bids for the work more or less to be done under said plans and specifications shall be received at any time up to 10 O'clock A M, of October 26th, 1914. Be it further resolved: That the Asst City Engineer, Mr Geo S Iredell, be and he is hereby requested to send notices of the work contemplated by this resolution to Austin contractors doing the character of work called for in the above named plans and specifications. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. --- Page break --- 142 October 21st 1914. .Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony & Haynes 3 Absent Councilmen Bartholomew & Powell 2 Councilman Haynes presented bids for Horse belonging to the City and which had been used in Patrol Wagon: Mr John Wear bid # 137.50 Mr O S Newby bid . 80.00 On motion the bid of Mr John Wear was accepted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony & Haynes 3 Absent Councilmen Bartholomew & Powell 2 The Council thenadjourned.
