The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Anthony 1 The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and adopted: The Mayor laid before the Council the report of the Sanitary Inspector for the month of November 1914, which was read and ordered filed :
Mary Johnson Fine Suspended Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the balance of the fine ,to-wit, $ 12.80 ,owing by Mary Johnson in cause No 8980, State of Texas vs Mary Johnson in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin ,Texas, be and the same is hereby suspended, pending the good behavior of the said Mary Johnson: The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved , A P Wooldridge, Mayor.
Bessie Gray Fine Suspended Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the payment of the balance of the fine ,to-wit, $ 61.80, owing by Bessie Gray in cause No 8983, State of Texas vs Bessie Gray in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, Texas, be and the same is hereby suspended ,pending the good behavior, of the said Bessie Gray. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the sum of $ 15.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the Sewer Earnings fund of the City of Austin, Texas, in payment of exchange upon $ 12, 000.00 of money and made payable to the Citizens Bank & Trust Co of the City of Austin, Texas, for remitting $ 12.000.00to the Chase National Bank of New York City in payment of one sewer Certificate of $ 10,000.00,& $ 2,000.00 interest upon the sewer Certificate debt of the City of Austin,Texas The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Anthony 1 Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor.
(Exchange City Bonds Int) Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution: Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the sum of $ 59.52,be and the same is hereby segregated out of the Interest & Sinking fund of the City of Austin, Texas, in favor of the Citizens Bank & Trust Co and directed to be applied to the cost of exchange upon $ 47, 615.00, as semi-annual interest owing by the City of Austin and due January 1st 1915, on its various issues of bonds. (Jno A Darter Overflow Land) Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized to issue the warrant of the City of Austin for the sum of three hundred ($ 300.00) dollars, pay able out of th the amount heretofore appropriated by the budget of the Water, Light and Power department of the City of Austin for the year 1914, to purchase overflow`rights, said warrant payable to the order of John A Darter,; and the Mayor is hereby authorized and instructed to sign said warrant and deliver the same to said John A Darter upon the delivery to the City of Austin by him of the deed of himself and his Wife to the City of Austin, conveying the perpetual right to overflow certain tracts of his land by the waters of the Colorado River which may be impounded by the Dam now being constructed across said river, said property being described in said deed of date December 26th 1914. Wm P. R. Cu To open pavement for Conduits
Councilman Powell offered the following resolution :
Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That the Western Union Telegraph Company be and is hereby granted permission to open pavements and install conduits and manholes on West 6th street and on Colorado street as follows : Cut and Conduit to begin on the north side of W 6th street in front of No 122, thence to run in a course directly across said street for a distance of approximately 15 fe feet to the center of a manhole to be constructed; from this manhole out and conduit to run westwardly parallel with the center line of said West 6th street a distance of approximately 112 feet to the center of manhole to be constructed, which manhole is to be located approximately on the east curb line of Colorado street; from this manhole out and conduit to run southward along Colorado street and across said West 6th street a distance of approximately 97 feet to a pole now located on the east curb line of Colorado street . Cuts for trenches not to exceed 24 inches in width and conduit to be laid at such a depth as will clear existing conduits and pipe lines. That the Western Union Telegraph Company shall be held liable for any damages to property or personal injuries that may occur due to the prosecution of this work , and that said Western Union Telegraph Company shall deposite with the Mayor of the City of Austin a certified check in the amount of $ 250.00, guaranteeing the replace-ment of paving in first class condition ,and the maintenance of same for a period of five years. That no work in the street shall be started until special permission is obtained from the Supt of streets and that all paving work shall be done under the supervision and with the approval of the City Engineer and that the street shall at all times be kept open for traffic . The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the sum of $ 80.00, be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent fund of the City of Austin, Texas, for the year 1914, to pay the salary of Geo Pendexter as Driver of the Hook & Ladder No 1, for the month of December 1914, Be it further resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the sum of $ 70.00, be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contin-gent fund of the City of Austin, for the year 1914, to pay the salary of Arthur Quist as Asst Driver for Hook & Ladder Nol The resolution was adopted by the following vote : apprvd Salaries attd Dec 1 Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Anthony 1 Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor.
