188 .Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin, Texas, January 07, 1915. The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Roll called: Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none. The minutes of the regular meetings of Dec 24th & 31st, and recessed meetings were read and adopted: Reports of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council the report of the City Assessor & Collector, the Marshal, the Matron of the Hospital, the City Health Officer& the Inspector of Weights and Measures, which were read and ordered filed: On the recommendation of the Supt of the Dept, the following bids for supplies Contracts Supplies for the term ending June 30th 1915, were accepted and contracts awarded in accordance June 30, 1915 with the said bids, viz : For Drugs and Prescriptions for Paupers and for the City Hospital, to Spalding Drug Store: For Burial White Paupers and for hauling pauper sick ,C to V O Weed: For Burial Colored paupers and hauling sick ,Colredpaupers W M Tears: For Newspaper printing to The Austin American. Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution, which was read the first time and laid over for one week, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: $10,000 That the sum of ten thousand ($10,000.00 )dollars be appropriated out of the Earnings fund Machinery for W&L Plant of the Water, Light and Power Plant of the City of Austin, Texas.,topay for the purchase of Material and Machinery. The resolution was read the first time and laid over for one week. January 8th 1915. All present: . Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution: Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the sum of eight hundred and forty six ($ 846.00) dollars be and the same is hereby ap J. W. Maxwell appropriated out of the Earnings fund of the Water & Light Dept, of this City as damages to be Submerged paid J W Maxwell for lands submerged and other property destroyed by reason of the lake land formed by the erection of the dam upon the Colorado River above the City of Austin, Texas. A detailed statement of the items making up this amount of $ 846.00 is attached hereto, Marked exhibit "A",and made a part of this resolution. The resolution was read the first time and laid over for one week. Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution: Res ilved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the sum of three hundred and fifty ($ 350.00) dollars be and the same is hereby appro P. Swenson -priated out of the Earnings fund of the Water & Light Dept of this City as damages to be Submerged paid P O Swenson for lands submerged and other property destroyed by reason of the lake land formedby the erection of the dam upon the Colorado River above the City of Austin, Texas. A detailed statement of the items making up this amount of $ 350.00, is attached hereto, Marked exhibit "A"and made a part of this resolution. Clark damages for land .Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the sum of one thousand seven hundred twenty four dollars and fifteen cents ($ 1,724.15) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the Earnings fund of the Water & Light Dept of this City as damages to be paid J F Clark for lands submerged and other property destroyed by reason of the lake formed by the erection of the dam upon the Colorado River above the City of Austin, Texas. A detailed statement of the items making up this amount of $ 1,724.15) as attached hereto marked exhibit "A" and made a part of this resolution . The resolution was read the first time and laid over Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution : Whereas, certain assessments of securities of Corporations on deposite in the State Treasury and the banking capital of the City have been allowed at 80 % of the face value ; and Whereas, taxation should be just and equal. Now, therefore, Notes & Securities To be rendered at 80 % of face value for taxation Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin , Texas, be and is hereby authorized to assess for the year 1915 all notes and other securities rendered by the owners or holders thereof at 80 % of the face value of such no tes or securities. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. On motion of Councilman Anthony, the following awards were made for supplies at the City Hospital for the term ending June 30th 1915,viz: Supplies Contracts awarded For Butter , J B Robinson ,at 29 cents per lb For Sweet Milk , L Powell at 30 cents per gallon For Butter milk , Kings Creamery at 15 cents per gallon For Whipped Cream , L Powell at 50 cents per quart Vote Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. . Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin,Texas : Transfer funds That the sum of ten & 10/100 ( $ 10.10) be transferred from the Sanitary Sewer fund to the Sanitary Sewer Earnings fund to reimburse said fund for this amount which was erroneously drawn by warrants 322, 345, 375 and 402,and that the the City Treasurer be requested to make said transfer. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Absent Councilman Anthony 1 Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor.
