185 Regular meeting of the City Council: Austin, Texas, January 14, 1915. The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Roll called: Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none. The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and approved: Councilman Haynes nominated L H Kreisle & F H Raymond as Deputy Assessors of taxes. The nominations were confirmed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew & Powell 4 Not voting Councilman Haynes 1 Reports of City Officers: The mayor laid before the Council the reports of the City Sexton & Dr Krueger Health Inspector which were read and ordered filed: Unfinished business: The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution, which had been read the 1st time on January 8th 1915, and laid over: Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the sum of eight hundred and forty six ($ 846.00) dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the Earnings fund of the Water & Light Dept, of this City as damages to be paid J W Maxwell for land submerged and other property destroyed by reason of the lake formed by the erection of the dam upon the Colorado River above the City of Austin, Texas. A detailed statement of the items making up this amount of $ 846.00, is attached hereto, marked "Exhibit "A" and made a part of this resolution. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution, which had been read the 1st time on the 8th day of January, 1915, and laid over: Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the sum of one thousand seven hundred and twenty four dollars and fifteen cents ($ 1,724.15) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the Earnings fund of the Water & Light Dept., of this City as damages to be paid J F Clark for land submerged and other property destroyed by reason of the lake formed by the erection of the dam upon the Colorado River above the City of Austin, Texas. A detailed statement of the items making up this amount of $ 1,724.15 is attached hereto, marked "Exhibit A" and made a part of this resolution. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. --- Page break --- 186 . The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution , which had been read the 1st time January 8th 1915 and laid over: F O Swenson fund approved Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the sum of three hundred and fifty ($ 350.00) dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the Earnings fund of the Water & Light Dept, of this City as damages to be paid F O Swenson for lands submerged and other property destroyed by reason of the lake formed by the erection of the dam upon the Colorado River above the City Of Austin, Texas. A detailed statement of the items making up this amount of $ 350.00 is attached hereto , marked "Exhibit A" and made a part of this resolution : The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : approp. Machinery W + L Dept Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the sum of tenthouand dollaren ( $ 10000.00)appropriated out of the Earnings fund of the Water & Light Dept of the City of Austin,Texas, to pay for the purchase of material and machinery . The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas- Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none, Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Auditorium funds appropriated Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the $ 256.34, collected from rentals of the municipal Auditorium during the current year and deposited to that account with the Assessor & Collector and City Treasurer of this City ,but not formally budgeted in the budget of 1914, be now specifically appropriated to the item of " Expenses of Municipal Auditorium. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Walter Good fine refused The Mayor laid before the Council a petition from Walter Good, asking the remission of a fine assessed against him in the Recorders Court, which was read , and on motion the petition was declined by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Geo McLain application Colorado River The Mayor laid before the Council a communication from W T Potter, Secy Board of Water Engineers ,State of Texas, enclosing Copy of- an application from Geo McLain, for permit to appropriate a certain amount of Water ,to be diverted from the Colorado River ,which communication was read and on motion referred to the City Attorney for investigation and report. --- Page break --- 187 Councilman Bartholomew offered t he following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the sum of $ 2,500.00be and the same is hereby appropriatedout of the Earnings fund of the water & Light Dept of the City of Austin,Texas for the year 1915,and made payab ble to T H Barmow, the value of submerged lands and other damage done to his property, by reason of the lake formed bt the dam building by the City of Austin across the Colorado River. Read the 1st time and laid over. T.H. Barnow overflowed Land January 19th 1915: Council an Anthony offered the following resolution: Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the balance od the finet@posts imposed against Eugene R Williams for drunkenness No 9124, State of Texas vs Eugene R Williamsin the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, Texas be and the same is for sufficient cause thereunto moving remitted by th the City Council. E.R. Williams fineremitted The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Woolridge, Councilmen Anthony,Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. January 20th 1915: Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin,Texas: That the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements be and is hereby authorized to contract with the Walter Tips Company for the purchase of the necessary reinforced steel to be used in the reinforced concrete bridge across Shoal creakon West 10th street Contract Tips Co Reinforced Steel for the sum of five hundred seventy two & 48/1-- ( $ 572.48)dollars,be be it further resolved that the sum of five hundred seventy two 48/100( $ 572.48)dollars be and the sa same is hereby appropriated from the General street fund to pay for the above mentione steel.
