    The Council voted to remit a $44.80 vagrancy fine for Albert Hetzel after he had already served 105 days in jail, and also cancelled a significant tax assessment for a Mrs. R.T. Hill.
  • City Property Deals:

    Bids were accepted for the sale of four houses located on land recently acquired for the expansion of Oakwood Cemetery.
  • Early Auto Infrastructure:

    A temporary permit was issued to Gulf Refining Company for the installation of a gasoline tank under a sidewalk and a fuel pump at the curb on West 6th Street.

Report City Clerk Result Primary Election Mar 22, 1915 --- Page break --- 252 'Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : A Hetzel Whereas, it appears from the attached statement of J D Copeland, Clerk Fine Remitted of the Corporation Court, of the City of Austin,Texas, that one Albert Hetzel was fined for vagrancy in cause No 8982, in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin,Texas, in the amount of $ 114.80 ,fine and costs,and Whereas, in serving his sentence he has been in jail 105 days ,which still leaves a balance owing of the fine and costs in said case imposed of $ 44.80; and Whereas, the Council thinks in this case that the defendant has been punished sufficiently, Now ,therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the balance of the fine and costs imposed in this case, amounting to $ 44.80 ,be and the same is hereby remitted. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none, Approved, A P Wooldridge , Mayor. Now, therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin,Texas: That said assessed credits against the said Mrs R T Hill for the year 1914, in the amount of $ 1106.00, be and the same is hereby cancelled and annulled. All present: Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That in response to a publication inviting bids, the following sales of houses were made upon the property bought by the City as an Annex to Oakwood Cemetery, said figures hereinbelow given representing the highest and best bid for the houses : Bids for Houses. March 30th 1915, All present: The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the resignation of Geo S Iredell, Assistant City Engineer , is accepted regretfully upon the part of the City Council : That in Mr Iredell the City has had the continued services for seven years of a faithful and exceptionally competent Engineer , a man of varied practical and artistic accomplishments, and Be it further resolved , That in the withdrawel of Mr Geo S Iredell from the City's service the City recognizes that it sustains a distinct loss, Resolved Further That the best personal and official wishes of the Council accompany Mr Iredell in his retirement to private business. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That a permit be and is hereby granted to the Gulf refining company to install under the sidewalk in front of its place or businessat 211 West 6th street in this City a Bowser gasoline tank ,with the usual necessary and proper equipment;and be it further resolved , That a gasoline pump to be used in connection with said tank be and the same is hereby authorized to be installed and maintained by said Gulf Refining Company at the curb in fron of said premises at 211 West 6th street in this City,and Be it further resolved, That said equipment ,tank and pump shall be in all respects of the most modern and approved form ,type and fashion,and Be it further resolved , That the work under this permit is to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer and subject to his approval and it is not to beg deemed accepted until his approval is received and filed in connection with said work. Be it further and finally resolved, That this permit is temporary and subject to revocation at any time in the judgement of the City Council .
