258 Fine Bill Green Remitted ..Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : It appearing to the City Council that the offense of drunkennes committed by Bill Green and for which he was fined in the Corporation Curt of the City of Austin,Texas, on April 22nd 1915,in the amount of $10.80,was his first offense,and it further appearing that this man Green when sober is a thorough gentleman but afflicted with a mania for drink,and the City Council believing it sensible ,as well as kind,to remit the fine and costs in this case. Now, therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the fine and costs in the case of the State of Texas,vs Bill Green, No 9316,in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin,Texas, and amounting t to $ 10.80,be and the same is hereby remitted. Mayor Wooldridge,offered the following amendment to the Budget: Hospital Budget amended Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the budget of the Hospital Dept for the City of Austin,Texas, for the present year be so amended as that the salary of the Head Nurseshall be and is hereby fixed at $ 75.00 per month from January to July of the year 1915, and at $ 85.00 -per month from July 1915, to January 1st 1916. 259 .The Mayor laid before the Council " An ordinance ordering an election to obtain the consent of the qualified voters of the City of Austin ,Texas, who pay taxes on property within the limits of said City ,to the issuance of bonds by the City Council for the purposes ; First-of permanent improvement of the Streets of the City, and the building of bridges ,storm Sewers and large drains ;Second the construction of Sanitary Sewers; Third- the construction and repair of Public Free School Buildings ,the equipment thereof and the purchase of sites.XXXXX therefor; Fourth- The installation of an automatic Fire and police alarm System for the City of Austin ; and repealing all ordinances in.conflict with the provisions of said ordinance:" The ordinance was read the 1st time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Haynes & Powell 4 Nay Councilman Bartholomew 1 Councilman Bartholomew filed the following reason for his vote : An the 22nd instant the City Council passed an ordinance containing a propositionto submit a bond issueof $ 275.000.00 for Bridges ,Storm Sewers and other street improvements,which I now favor owing to the calamity which befell this City in loss of bridges by flood on the night of the 22nd instant .I do not approve increasing that amountto $ 425.000.00 at the present time .I am confident the taxpayers of Austin would vote $ 275.000.00 ,and they might reject the $ 425,000.00 proposition. If more than $ 275,000.00 becomes necessary ,I am willing to vote for additional amount when needed. Bartholomew. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That the City Treasurer and the City Clerk,be and they are hereby authorized and directed to transfer from the City Cemetery fund to the City Park fund,an amount erroneously drawn from the Park fund,which should have been drawn from the Cemetery fund, on April 24th 1915. Fine W M Hanley. Remitted
.Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution: Whereas, it appears from the facts of the case shown to the City Council that the fine and costs, amounting to $ 14.80, in the case of the State of Texas vs J V Handley but properly called W M Hanley, for running his automobile on the streets of the City of Austin without the tail lights burning, was his first offenseand the act was committed without the knowledge or suspicion on the part of the said W M Hanleythat his automobile tail lights were not burning, they having been previously lit and probably had been jarred out of burning by the moving of the automobile on the streets , Now, therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That the fine and costs in cause NO 9333, State of Texas vs W M Hanley , in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, Texas, and amounting to $ 14.80, be and the same are hereby remitted. Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : Whereas, from credible information submitted to the City Council, and from from the attached statement which is believed to be correct, it appears that S J Partlow had lit the tail lamps of his automobile when he left his house to go upon the streets of Austin ,but said tail lights being of inferior construction were probably jarred out of burning by the movement of the automobile upon the streets , Now, therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That , it is appearing to be the first offense of the said S J Partlow, the fine and cost in cause No 9332, State of Texas vs S J Partlow, in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, Texas, amounting to $ 14.80, be and the same are hereby remitted. 271 April 30th 1915. All present: The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That a permit be and is hereby granted to the Cadillac Sales Co of Austin, Texas, to install and maintain at their place of business 304- 308 East 5th street in this City ,a Bowser underground Gasoline tank and pump, said Bowser tank & pump are to be of the latest and most approved design and are to be installed in position under the supervision o of the City Engineer of the City of Austin, Texas. Be it further resolved : That this permit is temporary and revocable at the pleasure of the City Council : The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. May 1st 1915, All present: The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That a permit be and is hereby granted to E H Perry & Co, to install and maintain until the further orders of the City Council, a cotton platform, 15 ft wide and 80 ft long, extending along the west side of the old Cummings building on Brushy street, and which building faces on east 6th street in this City ,said platform to be built in accordance with the attached sketch of the same. Be it further resolved : That lines and grades for this platform are to be furnished by the City Engineer of the City of Austin, Texas. Be it further resolved : That this permit is temporary and revocable at the pleasure of the City Council .
