273. ..gular meeting of the City Council: Austin, Texas, May 13, 1915. Hon F W Wooldridge, Mayor Presiding: Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none: The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and ad pted: Reports of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council the reports of the Asst City Clerk, the Supt of Streets and the City Sexton, which were read and ordered filed: The Mayor laid before the Council the followng resolution : Whereas, on the 21st day of June 1913, the City Council acting upon information then in its possession ,passed the followinh resolution : • Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin Texas : That , after a full hearing of the facts in the case, the City Council completely Resolution. J. A. Guissinger exhonerates J A Guissinger, Assistant City Engineer ,from any intent of wrong doing in connection with a supposed request for an additional book of car tickets alleged to have been made of Jno Miller , Clerk in the engineering department , the 19th day of June 1913", and Whereas, since that date, on to-wit, this day, conclusive evidence has been submitted to the City Council that J A Guissinger did not even ask for an extra book of street car tickets at all; nor was he in anyway identified with said alleged transaction except to have been present ; and Whereas, from the evidence submitted in this case the entire transaction appears so far as the said J A Guissinger is concerned , to have been a case of mistaken identity. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of Austin, Texas: That no blemish, even a stigma attached to the name, life or conduct or service to the City of Austin while he was in its employ as Assistant City Engineer, and that he left the employ of the City Council not only with our respect, but with the confidence of the head of the engineering department, with the respect , confidence and good will of the individuals of this Council . • •unncilmen Bartholomew offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin,Texas : That the burial expenses of Earnest Dunaway ,Kineman for the Water, Light and Power Department, who lost his life yesterday while on duty for the City ,be paid Edna Dunaway- by the City out of the Earnings fund of the Water, Light and Power Department, Burial - and the necessary amount to pay the same is hereby appropriated. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That a permit be and is hereby granted E M Scarbrough & Sons,to excavate under the sidewalk in front of their storehouse on Congress Avenue between 5th & E. M. Scarbrough & Sons 6th streets in this City ,extending from Nos 512 to 520,with the express underAny -standing that this permit is given and received as conveying a merely temporary Permission to privilege ,which special privilege is revocable at any time in the pleasure of a Excavate under this or any subsequent City Council or City Commission and without compensation Sidewalk at any time for any cost to the said E M Scarbrough & Sons for work done and material placed or construction made in the excavation of the sidewalk at the time and place hereinbefore authorized. Off. their attached authorization to this effect ,to be credited on account of the debt owing by the Consumers Fuel & Ice Co, for water & Light supplied prior to the date hereof by the City of Austin to the said Consumers Fuel & Ice Co The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony. H. Perry Contingent fund of the City of Austin,Texas, as a refund to E H Perry for excess taxes paid by him upon his property situated at the corner of West 10th street and Lavacca street in this City .
