318 Petition Citizens Bridge Shoal Creek State Street Mrs L A Flack Sewer-Reb. refunded. .Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin, Texas, July 29th 1915. The Council was called to order by Councilman Bartholomew, Mayor,Pro tem: Roll called: Present Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Absent, excused, Mayor Wooldridge 1 The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and adopted : The Chair laid before the Council the report of the Supt of the Water & Light Dept for the month of June 2915,which was read and ordered filed: The Chair laid before the Council a petition from Citizens asking to have bridge across Shoal Creek on State Street , which was read and filed : Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin,Texas : Whereas, it appears from the recommendation of P S Spiller,Cashier of the Sewer Department , that Mrs L A Flack, at 901 Rio Grande street ,was charged for five (5) fixtures when it should have been only two (2) fixturesas shown from recent inspection , Whereas, the excessive charges for the three quarters in 1913 amount to $ 2.25, and the excessive charges for 1914, amount to $ 2.25, amounting to $ 4.50, which have been paid excessively, Threrefore , be it resolved that P S Spiller be and he is hereby authorized to rebate her for the sum of $ 4.50, and to take credit for same . The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Nays none. The Chair laid before the Council the following petition : Austin, Texas, July 16th 1915. The Hon Mayor and City Council men: Austin, Texas. Capital City Oil Co Petition Gentlemen : We would be pleased to have you issue a permit for the erection of the following steel tanks in block 6, H & T C Ry propertybetween Waller and Atasho streets. The tanks are to be nine (9) feet in diameter and twenty (20) feet long erected on brick foundation suitable for same . The tanks are to be used for the purpose of storing Refined Oils and Gasolinefor a distributing station the same as the larger oil Cos are using .Trusting that you will be able to grant this favor ,we are, Yours Respectfully, Capital City Oil Co.H G Eggleston ,Manager. --- Page break --- 319 .The petition was granted by the following vote.Work to be done under the supervision of the Supt of the Street Dept: Yeas Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Nays none, Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution : Resolution Boats on Lake Whereas, there are a large number of boats carrying passengers on the lake formed by the dam across the Colorado Riverabove Austin,and there have been no regulations yet adopted by the City Council of Austin to protect the people riding on the same from accidents , Therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the Policeman stationed at the dam be instructed to see that said boats are not overloaded ; that they have sufficient number of life predservers on board for the safety of the passengers carried; and that he use every effort to prevent accidents on the lake and the lake wharf . Resolved further : That the owners of boats on the lake be requested to comply with the Pilot rules adopted by the United States Government as far as the same may be applicable. Ed Johnson Fine The Chair laid before the Council a petition from Ed Johnson, asking to have a fine imposed in the Recorders Court remitted, which was read and referred to Councilman Anthony for investigation & report. W O Stone, J J Billinslwy Gasoline Tanks The Chair laid before the Council petitions from W O Stone and J J Billinslwy ,for permission to put in Gasoline tanks, which were read and referred to Councilman Powell . August 2nd 1915. A A King Dog Catcher Councilman Anthony Nominated A A King as Dog Catoher, which nomination was confirmed by the following vote : Yeas Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 3 Not voting Councilman Anthony . 1 Absent Mayor Wooldridge 1 Bids for Bonds The Chair laid before the Council,bids for City Bonds from Grant & Co, Bolger, Mossier & Williman & Sweet Causy ,Foster & Co, which were opened,read and taken under consiedation. --- Page break --- 320 …The following applications for license as Drivers of Automobiles for hire were presented, read and license granted ,by the following vote : Yeas Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Nays none. The Council was called to order by Councilman Bartholomew, Mayor, Pro-tem The Chair laid before the Council the bids for the bonds of the of the City which were submitted and opened on the 2nd inst. Councilman Powell moved that the bid of Bolger, Mosser & Willaman , which was submitted by the Texas Trust Co of Austin ,be accepted ,which motion prevailed by the following vote : Yeas Councilmen Bartholomew ,Haynes & Powell 3 Absent Councilman Anthony 1 Absent excused Mayor Wooldridge Clary 1 Councilman Bartholomew moved that the bonds of the unsuccessful bidders together with their bids , be returned, which motion prevailed by the following vote : Yeas Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 3 Absent Councilman Anthony 1 The following were the bids offered ,viz: R M Grant & Co ,bid Par & Accrued interest to date of delivery,expenses of $ 19,212.50 to be paid by the City,out of the General Revenue. Bolger Mosser & Williman, bid Par and accrued interest to date of delivery, expenses of $ 11,375.00 to be paid by the City ,out of the General Revenue. Sweet Causey ,Foster & Co, bid Par and accrued interest to date of delivery, City to pay 3,10% interest on daily balances as expenses. to be paid out of the General Revenue.
