322 . Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin, Texas, August 12, 1915. The Council was called to order by Mayor pro tem Bartholomew : Roll called : Present Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Absent excused Mayor Wooldridge 1 On motion the reading of the minutes was postponed until the next meeting. Reports of City Officers: The chair laid before the Council the reports of the Sexton, the Engineer, the I, Asst City Clerk & the City Health Officer, which were read and ordered filed. Councilman Haynes presented a petition from Citizens & property owners Petitions Citizen to change name of Bell Street on Bell street, asking to have the name of that street changed to west 7th stre which was read and referred to Councilman Haynes for investigation and report. The following applications for Drivers license were presented and read,and licenses granted by the following vote : Yeas Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Nays none. Driver Licenses B F Lee, 1002 Olive street. W B Abadie, 305 East 1st street. Thos W Newton, South Austin, Belleview Park. Ed Johnson, 1605 New York Avenue. The Chair laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: Walter Stahley Gasoline Fuel oil That a permit be and is hereby granted Walter Stahley to install a fuel oil Tank at the corner of Comal street and H & T C Railroad Company's property; said tank being a standard steel tank such as regularly used for the purpose and is closed. Resolved further: That this permit is temporary and revocable at any time in the pleasure of the City Council. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Nays none. Approved, E C Bartholomew, Mayor pro tem . --- Page break --- 32B ...The Chair laid before the Council the following resolution : Whereas, the petition of W C Heathto install an electric light shoe sign in front of his place of businessat 923 Congress Avenuein this City, has been approved by W L Eyres, sign inspector, Now, therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That a permit be and is hereby granted to the said C W Heathto install and maintain an C W Heath Sign electric light shoe sign in front of his place of businessat 923 Congress Avenue in this City; this sign is to be in strict conformity with the ordinances of the City regulating electric signs. Be it further resolved by the City Council : That this permit is subject to revocation at the pleasure of the City Council. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Nays none. Approved, E C Bartholomew, Mayor pro tem. The chair laid before the Council the following resolution : Whereas, the petition of G Flury to install an electric light sign in front of the Bon Ton Cafe at No 600 Congress Avenue in this City has been approved by W L Eyres , G Flury Sign Bon Ton Cafe Sign Inspector, Now, therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That a permit be and is hereby granted to the said G Flury to installand maintain an electric light sign in front of the Bon Ton Cafe at 609 Congress Avenue in this City; Said sign is to be in strict conformity with the ordinances of the City regulating electric light signs . Be it further resolved by the City Council : That this permit is subject to revocation at the pleasure of the City Council. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Nays none. Approved, E C Bartholomew, Mayor pro tem. The Chair laid before the Council the following resolution WHEREAS, the petition of G Flury to install an electric light sign in front of the Metropol tan Cafe , situated at 523 Congress Avenue in this City has been approved by G Flury Sign Metropolitan W L Eyres, Sign Inspector. Now, therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : --- Page break --- 324 . That a permit be and is hereby granted to the said G Flury to install and maintain an electric light sing in front of the Metropolitan Cafe at 523 Congress Avenuein this City ; said sign to be in strict conformity with the ordinances of the City regulating electric light signs. Be it further resolved by the City Council : That this permit is subject to revocation at the pleasure of the City Council. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell Nays none, Approved, E C Bartholomew, Mayor pro tem. Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That the sum of one hundred and fifty )$150.00) dollarsbe and the same is hereby transferred from item " Improvement to old building,City Hospital ",to item " Fuel for City Hospital " in the budget of the City of Austin,Texas, for the year 1915. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell Nays none. Approved, E C Bartholomew, Mayor pro tem. On application the following named persons were granted licenses as Drivers of Automobiles,by the following vote : Yeas Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell Nays none. Tomas Lacy , 1504 Sabine street, H C Preslar , 1304 Rio Grande street. The Chair laid before the Council the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the Cahiers or heads of all departments of the City government be and are hereby ordered and instructod to file with the City Clerk immediately before the monthly pay vouchers are issued ,a list of all Officers or employees of the City of Austin who may be indebted to the City in any amount, which accounts are sixty days delinquent ,and Be it futbther resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby ordered and instructed to hold up the warrant s of any Officer or employee so delinquent until his or her accounts with the City are settled. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin : That Cement Sidewalks and Curbings be and are hereby ordered constructed along the West Sidewalks work Lien schedule ok side of Wichita streetbetween 26th & 27th streets in the City of Austin,Texas. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell Nays none. Approved , E C Bartholomew, Mayor,pro tem. A.R. B4P.26 Chautauqua Signs The Chair laid before the Council a petition from the S S and B Y P U Chautauqua of Austin, for permission to stretch streamers for advertising purposes. On motion the petition was granted by the following vote: The work to be done under the supervision of the Supt of Streets. Yeas Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell Nays none.
