Whereas, the City of Austin has sold all of its bonds issued by virtue of the authority of the election held on June 9,1915, and its City Treasurer has on hand the several sums of money realized from the sale of its sewer bonds and street improvement bonds; and Whereas, an emergency exists on account of the receipt of said sums of money which requires the City Treasurer of the City of Austin to make an additional bond appli-cable to the proceeds of the sale of of the said sewer bonds and street improvement bonds, and the City Council of the City of Austin has required that such additional bond be made by him in the sum of two hundred thousand dollars; Therefore, Know all men by these presents : That we, Chester Thrasher, as principal, and American Surety Company of New York, as surety, are held and firmly bound unto A P Wooldridge, as Mayor of the City of Austin, Texas, and unto his successors in office ,in the sum of Two Hundred Thousand ($ 200,000.00) good and lawful money of the United States of America, for the payment of which well and truly to be made ,the said Principal binds himself, his heirs, Executors and Administrators and the said Surety binds itself ,its successors or assigns, jointly and severally, by these presents. The original purchase price of this steam roller was $ 2,350.00, but a gasoline engine was taken in part payat a price of $ 400.00, leaving a balance owing of $ 1,950.00, to pay which this appropriation is made. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Whereas, Lots 5 & 6,in Block 8, Outlets 32 & 33, Division "B" in Glenwood addition to the City of Austin, Texas, stands charged with taxes in the amount of $11.15, on personal property for the year 1910,when said property was owned ,together with personal property,by one L P Piper; and Whereas, said L P Piper defaulted in the payment of taxes on said personal property for the year 1910, and is still delinquent on said personal property taxes; and Whereas, the taxes upon said lots 5 & 6, Block 8,Outlets 32 & 33,Div "B" have been paid by subsequent owners of the same ,who, however, strongly object to paying the personal property taxes charged against same for the --- Page break --- .year 1910 and allege no knowledge of the existence of said personal property taxes.
