408 Regular meeting of the City Council; Austin, Texas: January 06, 1916. The Council was called to order by the Mayor : Roll called: Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none. The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and adopted: The following applications for Drivers licenses were presentedt read,viz: G M Wagner, 1178 San Barnard street, C L Cunningham, 404 East 8th street, N B Earnest, 1907 N 7th street, A T Scott, 1908 Congress Avenue, H C Overstreet, 1220 E 2nd street. On motion the applications were granted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That the sum of $ 250.00 , be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent fund of the City of Austin, Texas, for the year 1916, and made payable to C L Joyce of Austin, Texas,in purchase of Lot No 7, in Block 118,City of Austin, Texas, to be used for street, bridge and storm sewer purposes . The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The Mayor laid before the Council the following reports of City Officers: The City Marshal, the Fire Marshal,the City Health Officer,the Public Weigher, the City Sexton, which were read and ordered filed: January 7th 1916. ALL present. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That the sum of twelve hundred ($1,200.00) dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the Sanitary Sewer Fundfor the purpose of paying wages and salaries during the month of January 1916. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays None. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That the sum of $ 3,750.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the Permanent Street Improvement Fundfor the purpose of paying wages and salaries during the month of January 1916. Now, Therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That the balance of the fine and costs ,amounting to $ 11.80, in said above styled and numbered cause, be and the same is hereby remitted. January 11th 1916, All present: Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That a special permit be and is hereby granted to D O Patton to construct a sidewalk four feet wide ,instead of four and a half feet wide ,( the usual requirement)adjacent to his property at the corner of Oldham and 22nd streets in this City. The lines and grades of this sidewalk must be given by the City Engineer. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. --- Page break --- 412 Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That a permit be ans is hereby granted P W McFadden to install and maintain a Bowser "Red Sentry " Gasoline tank ,to be approved by the Supt of Police and Public Safety ,under the sidewalk at 2300 Guadalupe ,sixty feet from the corner of 23rd and Guadalupe in this City . Resolved further: RHW McFadden That in connection with this Gasoline tank hereby authorized to be installed, Gasoline the said P W McFaddenis likewise authorized to install and maintain a gasoline Tank pump to be located at the curb line in front of his place of business at 2300 Guadalupe street at a position to be designated by the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements ;said gasoline pump is to be of the most modern and approved construction and design ,and subject to the approval of the Supt of Police and Public Safety. Resolved further: That the said P W McFadden shall installand maintain at the top and upon the gasoline pump herein authorized ,an electric light of not less than 40 Watt powerand placed in a globe of not less than ten inches diameter,Which electric light must be kept illuminatednot less than three hours daily ,between the hours of 6 and 12 O'clock P M . Resolved further: That the hose through which air,gasoline or any other gaseous volatile substance is conveyed ,by pumping or otherwise,from store house 2300 Guadalupe street,or from the tank authorized to be placed in front of same, must be kept when not in actual use ,neatly coiled and stored, either in the receptacle in the side-walk provided for such hoseor in the receptacle in the pump authorized to be installed and provided for the storing of said hose . Resolved further: That the work under this resolution authorized to be installed and maintained must be installed and maintained ,wherenot otherwise assigned ,under the imme-diate supervision of the City Engineer of the City of Austin, Texas, who is hereby authorized to prescribe necessary specifications for the work herein authorized to be done. Resolved further and finally: That this permit is granted and must be accepted as revocable at any time in the pleasure of the City Council .
