The Council was called to eeder by the Mayor: Roll called: Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none: The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetin gs were read and adopted: Geo Fiegel The Mayor laid before the Council Twe petitions from Geo Fiegel Jr ,for Jitney license to operate a Jitney, which were read and the licensesgranted by the license following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none: The Mayor laid before the Council applications for license to drive driver license service cars, from the following names persons,vis: W M Lents, 1400 Garden Street, W A Durham Jr, R F D NO 7, City. On motion the applications were granted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes '& Powell 5 Nays none. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: appro. That the sum of two thousand five hundred ($ 2,500.00) dollars be and the sam Misc. Material is hereby appropriatedout of the Permanent Street Improvement fund for Miscel -laneeous meterial. Paving Colorado Councilman Powell offered a resolution ordering the improvementor a certain St. part of Colorado street in the City of Austin ,and approving specifications, proposal, contract and bond therefor, which was read the 1st time and laid over for one week. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Paving 12th St. Resolution ordering the improvement of a certain part of 12th street, in the City of Austin, and approving specifications,proposal, contract and bond theres was read the 1st time and laid over for one week. Paving 9th & 11th Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Resolution approving City Engineer's report concerning improvements upon Colorad street from the north property line of 9thto the south property line of 11th streets in the City of Austin ,and directing a hearing to property --- Page break --- .owners concerning the assessment for a part of the cost of such improvements against them and their property ,fixing a time for said hearing and directing that a notice be given to said property owners concerning the said assessment. The resolution was read and laid over for one week March 4th 1916. Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That the fine and costs imposed in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, Texas, in cause No 10260,State of Texas vs Minor Wood for intoxication ,and amounting to $ 14.80 be and the same are,for sufficient causes unto the City Council shown,hereby remitted. Ed Allen Jim Quinlan Councilman Anthony nominated Ed Allen ,now working with Colorado Hose Co No 2,to be Jim Glay Captain in charge of the Hose wagon and other apparatus at the quarters of East Austin Fireman @ Hose Co No 4. Said nomination was confirmed by a vote of 4 yeas, Councilman Anthony not Austin 4 voting. No one will be assigned for the present to the position vacated by Ed Allen at Colorado Hose Co No 2 . Councilman Anthony nominated Ed Tallichet to be Capt of Colorado Hose Co No 2, Ed Tallichet Said nomination was confirmed by a vote of 4 yeas,Councilman Anthony not voting. Capt. Colorado Hose 2 March 7th 1916. Councilman Powell Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas, as follows : Width Roadway 1. That the width of the sidewalks upon West 12th street from Colorado street to Sidewalk West Avenue be and the same are hereby fixed at 25 feet from the property lines. W 12th St. 2. That the width of the roadways upon said West 12th street from Colorado street Colorado to West Avenue be and the same are hereby fixed at 20 feet from the curb of the sidewalk W. Avenue to the curb of the parkway . 3. That the width of the parkways on West 12th street from Colorado street to West Avenue be and the same are hereby fixed at 30 feet. 4. That the sidewalks on each side of the street from Colorado street to 12th street be and the same are hereby directed to be 4 ½ feet in width and to be so located that there will be a space of 2 ½ feet from the edge of the walk to the back side of the curbs ,or 3 feet and 2 inches from the face of the curb on the outside edge of the walks. 5. That the concrete walks be constructed 6 inches above the curbs and that the areas between the walks and curbs be terraced and sodded. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. March 5th 1916. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin,Texas : Cabiness That a permit be and is hereby granted to the Cabiness Hardware Co.,to install and Hardware Co. maintain one Bowser gasoline tank of the capacity of 218 gallons ,to approved by the 121-123 Supt of Police and Public Safety ,under the sidewalk at Nos:121-123 Congress Avenue in Congress Avenue this City,and Resolved further: That in con ection with this gasoline tank hereby authorized to be installed,the said Cabiness Hardware Co is likewise authorized to install and maintain a gasoline pump to be located at the curb line in front of Nos 121 - 123 Congress Avenue at a position to be designated by the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements ;said gasoline pump to be of the most modern and approved fashion ,character, construction and design , and subject to the approval of the Supt of Police & Public Safety,and --- Page break --- 448 **Resolved further:** That the said Cabiness Hardware Co shall install and maintain at the top and above the gasoline pump hereby authorized, an electric light of not less tha than 40 watt power and placed in a globe of not less than ten inches diameter, which electric light shall be kept illuminated not less than three hours daily between the hours of six and twelve O'clock P M ,and **Resolved further:** That the hose through which air, gasoline or any other oil or volatile substance is conveyed by pumping or otherwise ,from the store house at 121-123 Congress Avenue ,or from the tank authorized to be placed in front of same , must be kept ,when not in actual use, HUMXXXXXXXXX,X neatly coiled and stored, either in the receptacle in the sidewalk provided for such hose ,or in the receptacle in the pump authorized to be installed and provided for the storing of said hose, and **Resolved further:** That the work under this resolution authorized to be installed and maintaind must be installed and maintained ,where not otherwise assigned, under the imme-diate supervision of the City Engineer of the City of Austin, Texas, who is hereby authorized to prescribe necessary specifications for the work herein authorized to be done. **Resolved further and finally:** That this permit is granted and must be accepted as revocable at any time in the pleasure of the City Council .
