Reports of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council the following reports of City Officers: The Supt of the Water & Light Plant, the Inspector of Health, the Marshal, the Treasurer,the Public Weigher,which were read and ordered filed: Councilman Haynes presented 'petition of Mrs Lou Hill,asking [illegible] Motorcycle Police acct Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution : The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That the sum of $ 230.00, be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent fund of the City of Austin, Texas,and credited to a special appropriation in the Police Dept of this City to pay for the net balance of purchase of a twin Excelsior Motorcycle bought of the Petpesky Co of this City for the use of said Police Dept. Ford Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution : Whereas, in view of the very radical increase made by the Board of Equalization for the year 1915, in the property of G J Eilers and the estate of H E Ford,as listed below which increase amounts to nearly 100% in one year; and Whereas, said increase seems to the Council excessive, Now,therefore, Resolved by the City council of the City of Austin, Texas : That, as an act of equity and good judgement,as we believe,the assessment of ground values in each instance are reduced by the amount of 12 ½ % of the value placed upon said property by said Board of Equalization: The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Mrs B Friedman Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That the sum of $ 48.25,be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent fund of the City of Austin, Texas, for the year 1916, in payment of the balance of the salary of Mrs Belle Friedman ,former Matron at the City Hospital ,for the month of February 1916. For the time covered by this appropriation Mrs Friedman was either sick or absent from the City Hospital ,with the authority, as she understood,of the City Physician. April 12th 1916. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That a permit be and is hereby granted E Cluck to install and maintain one Bowser Gasoline Tank, to be approved by the Supt of Police and Public Safety, under the sidewalk at No 1124 West 6th street in this City. Resolved further : That in connection with this Gasoline tank hereby authorize to be installed, the said E Cluck is likewise authorized to install and maintain a gasoline pump to be locate at the curb line in front of No 1124 West 6th street at a position to be designated by the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements ; said gasoline pump to be of the most modern and improved fashion, character, construction and design, and subject to the approval of the Supt of Police and Public Safety. Resolved further : That the said E Cluck shall install and maintain at the top and upon the gasoline pump hereby authorized, an electric light of not less than 40 watt power and placed in a globe of not less than 10 inches diameter, which electric light must be kept illuminated not less than 3 hours daily, between the hours of 6 and 12 O' clock P M.
